hey i did a few searches on here and on srt forums but i want to know i am going to get this done right...
i have a 05 sxt and my aftermarket head unit is a pioneer deh-p3800mp.
i know you are supposed to have a constant negative and 12v power to it at all times. what is the best way for the negative to be done, and same with the 12v.
i also believe that i am supposed to connect/wire the sub to either the rear 6x9's in the trunk or the other speakers that are in the front?
any help would be greatly appreciated. i searched all over the place the past few hours but everything i find is up and down and scattered all over the place.
i am going to a place tomorrow to have it done but i want to be able to tell them wtf to do so they dont fuck it up.

HUH???
what are you wiring, the radio or the amp. if your wiring the radio the best way is to get an aftermarket wiring harness adapter wire it in to the pioneer head unit then just plug it into the factory harness. let the car do the work for you, already takes care of your + - and 12vSW
as far as the subs Power from battery, ground at a good point on the body or frame. ie seat bolts or screw into the body (NOT IN YOU FUEL TANK OR LINES!!!)
the pioneer deck should have RCA preouts so there is no need to use the wire input from the rear 6x9.
I think you need to let the installer do his work and just stay out of his way... then bump and enjoy

The stock SRT kicker amp/sub combo doesn't come with RCA's, it's got an eleventy-million pin connector that's somehow attached to the front speakers as far as bass control goes. you'll have to decode the connector, then splice the proper wires to the proper pins. FYI, it kinda sucks. not very much bass. 100W RMS amp FTMFL. 10" sub FTMFGDL. I'm thinkin about just throwin the 12's from my t-bird in (if the box fits). what a waste of money ($495) on the option. but at least it came with "upgraded 6 speaker stereo system" lol.
once you decode and splice, should be a real simple install. no need to get it done professionally, if you have basic knowledge of electronics. I love how it's secured in the corner of the trunk and you only lose about a cubic foot of trunk space. don't expect to set off any car alarms with it tho. good luck.

eh. got a 300 watt rms pioneer amp for 100 bucks from the custom audio place that is the size of the kicker, they are mounting it in place of the kicker amp on top of the kicker sub box and then wiring it all to my pioneer head unit via RCA preouts.
he said that installing it the standard way as an srt4 i couldnt adjust bass or anything. and it would cost 80 dollars to install it all regardless. he said for 170, i get the new pioneer amp which connects everything to my pioneer head unit....i get 3 times the power....and i will be able to control the bass levels via my DEH-3800 which has all bass control on the unit.

that doesn't sound right, just install it as u would any aftermarket sub.
12v to amp and ground it also as stated leave the RCAs and use a the 5v remote turnon on your radio and connect that to the amp. Some aftermarket radios like my alpine have a seperate sub adjust ment that works with any sub. If you don't feel like paying the $170 and your radio donesn't have the sub adjustment live with your settings that u set the gain on, on the amp itself.

lol
NOTE TO ANYONE THAT GETS SOMETHING INSTALLED SOMEWHERE.
DO NOT! tell the installer how to install it because you think hes going to fuck it up because 2 things are going to happen.
1) Hes going to fuck it up purpusly and tell you to fuck off when you come back cause its not working right
2) hes going to tell your ass to fuck off right then and there.
one more thing, if you have any reason to feel that the installer or shop isnt compitent enough to do it without you having to explain how to do it, you shouldnt be taking it there in the first place
