Post by blk94z28 » Sun May 06, 2007 11:46 am

Anyone here have problems with there antenna wire? I had mine for about 3 months and now it can not detect my antenna. I read alot of bad reviews on there antenna's. I did see a monster antenna on radioshacks website but it says instore only. I went into the store and they dont have them. Anyone have the monster antenna?

i know the cable on sirius and xm radios for the antenna is real thin and easy to get crimped and damaged...

if that radioshack is a full store .. not a 3rd party seller then they can order the cable in for you ...

your antenna wire is bad, your going to have to replace the antenna bestbuy sells them for 30 bucks. what happened was the platinum core snaped

when you install it dont bend it, this wire cannot be bent in any way shape or form, if its installed right itll last for years like mine and my dads, my antenna is about 3 years old and has gone though 3 cars and my dads 1 year old and went though 2 cars. the break happens mostly at the point where your getting into the car, when you peel back the rubber seal on the door run the wire along side it and have it slowly cut across the bend that way that sharp bend happens across a large distance and dosent damage the core.

another thing that can cause that but is alot more rare is that your radio/stand's antenna plug went bad

actuall you know what ill make a how-to install one itll be up in two hours

Yeah i know the wire broke inside. My problem was the way I had the wire running going down into the trunk. When I would close the trunk it made the wire tight agains the weather stripping and I did not notice that untill it stopped working and I took a good look at it and saw it. I ordered the Monster antenna from amazan with 2day shipping it was 58bucks. The cheapest I could find the sirius antena was 40 bux and no one had it in stock. And they were on backorder so I would be waiting for awhile. Itll be here on weds and suppositly you can have this antenna inside the car and still get good reception. Ill post up how well it works once I get it.

I installed the monster antenna yesterday and it all works well. I seem to get a little stronger signal than before.
