kicker opinions???

Post by gunton224 » Sun Jun 24, 2007 5:56 pm

anyone have the srt kicker amp/sub? Does it hit fairly hard or would i be wasting my money? I dont have a lot to spare but i want some boom booms. I dunno if this will do enough for little cash or if i should bite the bullet and buy an aftermarket 15" and an amp...

Just a heads up, bigger ain't better.

And usually factory optioned subwoofer packages are still weak compared to a low level aftermarket system.

I have the kicker system in my srt and I am not all that impressed with it. The kicker sub that it came with didn't hit all that hard. When that one blew I replaced it with a JL audio sub and that one sounds a little better. Don't waste your time buying the srt system. If you only want one sub go with the Kicker L5's or L7"s. Both of these subs hit hard and you only need one. I have a 12" L7 that will be going into the wife's sxt and it hits really hard. Just my 0.02.

How'd you blow the sub? the amp doesn't push anywhere near max wattage on the sub.

I'm satisfied with the kicker system. It gives more bass than a good set of 6x9's with an amp, but not enough to start vibrating crap loose all over the car. Down side is, the amp plugs into the wiring harness of the car, and if yours didn't come with the kicker system, it's not going to have the pigtail for it.

I wasn't looking for an SRT with the Kicker system but mine came with one and I've become quite fond of it. You kids that are so used to a lot of bass probably won't be impressed but I wish that cars had come with something like this back in the 8-track days!
