amp placement

Post by ragek23 » Mon Jul 23, 2007 12:28 am

I've been wanting to get a smaller amp (2-400W) to boost my 6x9s and I would like to know a good spot for that amp that would be out of the way.

I was thinking of bolting it to the back speaker deck or something.

or if you get a small enough amp, you might be able to put it under one of the front seats

I like the idea of the back speaker deck, just make sure that there is room for the amp to cool down, and being in the back deck the sun beating down on it through the window will increase heat! So maybe a little remotely controlled fan switch or even one that runs when car is on would be a good idea. :D Not much flow in the trunk as is.

edit: I also know you mean on the underneath side of the speaker deck, or at least that is what I assumed... I wouldn't think anyone would want to do it right in the window :?

I was planning on getting an alpine amp with a fan but I lost the bid on ebay . I was going to put it underneathe the speaker deck somehow.

drill holes in the deck.....get some washers, threaded rod & bolts...

put a washer & bolt on the threaded rod top side of the rear deck, then push the amp up the threaded rod until where you want the amp to be & then just put a bolt underneath the amp maybe w/ the washer.

Fixed that for ya. Or just get 4 bolts, and 4 nylock nuts to use instead of all-thread. Nylock nuts are great, they have a nylon insert in them that acts as a lock, washers tend to rattle when the nut backs off the bolt from bass, even lock washers.
