Is Hifonics a decent brand?

Post by deep1ca » Tue Sep 25, 2007 11:10 pm

I don't know the smaller audio brands to well and was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with hifonics. Is it a decent brand?

I'm thinking about buying this amp if it is.

Old Hifonics was really high quality back when Zed was making their amps. However, as of lately they have gone a little down hill.

They were bought out by the same company that bought out US Amps (again, old school stuff was nice but not so great lately).

If you merely want something that makes power and will push some subs then go right ahead. The Hifonics will do its job. However, if you're into sound quality then I would like at some other companies. But for the price and for your purpose, I'd say go for it.

Hifonics is one of the best bang for the buck brands. I ran there older bx1500d, it was a good amp but ovverrated by 200watts.

& I say that is a good price on that bxi1606d.

go even older and you'll run into an Orion HCCA series...

(50w rated amp that would deliver 1200w@1/4Ohm and pull about 130amps from the charging system - total cheater amp back in the day.)

I still have 2 :D

HiFonics is great, I ran two of their amps back in the day (and I say back, and mean back!) and they were some of the best at the time... as for Phoenix Gold -- they too were some of the best, never heard a cleaner or more powerful amp (back in the day) and this was with the old RF amps that were freakin solid steel, and also some of the best (once again, back in the day and I am talking like 15 years back).

I was toldd by my stereo guy as of abot two years ago that the best bang for the buck for SQ as well as DB is the P series Rockford amps. The new ones not the old ones.

the new power rockford amps are better this year than last years. even the new punches are alot better than last also. thier punch subs havent changed except for the P3 which was downgraded a little but the power subs havent changed too. they got rid of the TypeRF series tho which sucks cause i liked those alot
