dont know anything about visionik and cat say as i have ever heard of them to be honest. like most things in life, you get what you pay for.

as far as the sub packages, none of them will come with amplifiers. they are all just speakers and boxes. and as none of them have a name brand anywhere i would stay away from them.

I personally would never run anything visonik. for that $20 add $10-15 more & you can get good stuff. like pioneer & other brands.

check out sonicelectronix.com or woofersetc.com.

a mod should move this to the audio section

Buy brand name.

It's like cereal. the store brand is cheap and most of the time, taste like crap. the brand name stuff is always 100 times better. lol

you get what you pay for, just go brand name.

I have to agree ...

90% off? What?

Visonik or whatever that is at 90% off should be like 90 cents!

...19.99 sounds like a 50% mark-up from what they paid!

sony xplod gets a bad rap from a lot of people, but i ran some sony 6x9's and an amp (actually i cant remember if i had speakers, but i know for sure i had the amp) and i couldnt complain about anything.. this was a number of years ago though

when youre on a budget and not trying to compete in SPL competitions and crap like that then almost anything will get you through the day.. my personal philosiphy is if it sounds good to you then who the F cares what brand it is (just not something way off the mainstream wall that youve never even heard of it, or known to be low quality like jensen)

honestly, if you want to go budget, go to walmart. i was browsing the walmart isle the other day looking for something unrelated and saw xplod amps/speakers, pioneer speakers.. some other stuff... i had good experiences with pioneer also and they were priced like $30-60 for 6.5's and 6x9's...

crutchfield.com is where ive always bought from but they arent the lowest price place to shop from

I picked up a Pioneer DEH-P4900IB for 150$ from Futureshop (on sale of course), currently it's 170$ on sale at Canadian Tire. It offers more upgrade ability then the Sony unit (Sat. Radio, Ipod control, USB module, Bluetooth module .. ) Canadian tire is definately a good place to get the harness (make sure you also pick up an antennae adapter)

I don't care for Sony car audio, The nexstar is a no-name to me (I see that in the US it carries a 1yr warranty, but in Canada, it's only 90 days..). My old JVC sounded good, but, your deck is not where you should cheap out on..

Although I haven't bought a Kenwood in quite a while, but what about KDC-MP435U

I mean, 40$ more then the ones you were looking at, way more features, a longer warranty, and it's not a SONY  (not to mention, it is a 200$+ deck)..

Start with a good deck, replace each set of speakers as you can, add a decent sub if you want.. It's not something you have to do in one shot, but do it right the first time.. Otherwise it will cost you even more. (and try not to pick up parts from XSCargo, their Car section consists of all the crap that wouldn't sell on Ebay..)

dont go cheap on your audio....

a cheap deck is no better than having your stock one.

just go on the sites i provided & they have good prices for quality items.

They do have good prices, but add in Shipping and brokerage fees to Canada, and they are not so good compared to sale items here..
* UPS Canada: 7-12 business days, average + 24-48 hours processing time
o Brokerage fees, duties and any other applicable taxes or import charges are the sole responsibility of the customer and are based on rates provided by your country and the shipping courier. Sonic Electronix cannot control or quote you on these taxes, fees or charges. Please contact your local government for more details.
Brokerage fees for UPS are ~ 30$ + duties and taxes.

Guess the point is, shop around, don't rush, wait for a sale on a good product.. Don't "settle" for a product based on price and availability, get what you want the first time, if it requires you to wait, then wait..

Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer is what I swear by when it comes to decks. Second is what kind of music do you listen to? I can go from there when it comes to speakers, sub sizes, ect.

Well i listen to alot of stuff mostly though is hip hop or rap or r&b i may not even get subs juss due to the extreme ammount of money it costs, do i need an amp if i get a deck with say 50wx4(what most decks seems to have)

50w x 4 is misleading, that is Peak power, most are 22w x 4 RMS (constant) which works very well with factory speakers, if you are looking for a bit more kick, you can always upgrade the rear 6x9's and use an amp for them to get them up a bit in power.. 6x9 are a good source of bass.. (tho no where near a dedicated sub, the fact they are right in the cab counts as a +)..

Some of the options on the nicer decks makes this work a bit better, mine for example has the ability to filter lows (selectable) from the front speakers giving nicer sound (and keeping the bass in the back and off your dash/doors that can't handle it as well.

Since you have a taste for hip hop, Id go with some nice speakers like pioneers all around and then do a 12" sub with a 300 watt 2 channel amp. I listen to a lot of electronica and have a 250 watt amp hooked up to my pioneer 6x9s out back. They have a clean sound for high pitched sound and hit hard when it comes to break beats. If I had a choice, I do a 1000 watt 4 channel amp to my speakers. No sub.

I ran Pioneer PRS speakers (6.5") with a DIYMA sub (unknown sub but is probably thee best SQ sub out there), Infinity 6x9's and used a Sony deck.

My amplifier was a 5-channel Phoenix Gold that I used to power the PRS speakers and DIYMA.

It was AMAZING sound quality. But those PRS speakers retail for $550 and can be had for around $200 IF you're lucky enough to find a set.

If I were you, I would get some Infinity 6.5" for the front, 6x9's for the rear, and a nice Sony or Pioneer deck. IF you want a sub, you can get an Infinity 12" (Reference series, not Perfect series) and a 2 or 300 watt amp to power it.

All this can be purchased at Best Buy and they can even install it for you.

That would be your best bet for shopping on a budget. If you want HIGH quality, then brands like Vifa, Peerless, DLS, and Seas are what you should look into.

PM me if you need some help.

Sony cdx gt510

It has a red color and can be hooked up to an iPod via an Auxillary port.

Sony Xplod speakers are decent for a tight budget. They will not play super high quality but they sure will do the job.

An all Sony set-up would not be a bad idea for a simple system.
