Installed a cd player for my neighbor in his 2000 Chrysler Seabring that he got for his birthday... its a Sony Xplod CDX-GT42IPW with built in Ipod connection...
the radio works.
the cd player does not work. it looks like it is playing but there is no sound.
the ipod does not work. it looks like it is playing but there is no sound.
ideas?
it cant be the wiring i did for the harness since thats only speakers + power, and the radio works.
defective unit perhaps?
the only thing i can think of is the seabring has a premium sound system type thing that has an amp wire in the factory harness.. but connected or not to the aftermarket's harness does not make a difference.. and the car's amp does not have a sub or anything connected to it anyways...
Installed new head unit, radio works but CD and IPOD doesnt?

thats what i thought too..
though i have found a sebring forum much like our 2gn here, and from posts on this topic it sounds like it may be a problem relating to the premium sound system and wiring the power... so ill have to try using their solution on that see if it changes...
i guess that forum i found might be more suited to the problem if it is car specific

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE RADIO!!!!!!
connect the blue/white wire coming out of the radio to the blue and the blue/white (if there is one) to the harness, if the harness dosent have a blue white dont worry.
whats happening is the factory infinity amp isnt turning on bacause you hooked up the blue wire to the remote turn on, sonys drop voltage on thier blue wire (meant for the power antenna) when the radio isnt on that way the antenna is down when the cd or aux is in use

the blue/white comming out of the radio should be connected to the blue/white or blue wire on the harness you baught. if that harness has both a blue/white and a blue connect the blue/white on the radio to both of them.
ORANGE is not the antenna wire, blue is... in some cars they use the antenna lead to turn on the factory amps that or they have a seperate wire for the amp (blue/white). ORANGE is the illumination wire. i am also assuming you baught the harness for that car and didnt just cut off the factory chrysler harness

it actually turned out to be my fault.. i mismatched a wire on the harness..
turns out i connected the antenna wire to the amp remote, instead of amp to amp remote.. so i did blue to blue/white instead of blue/white to blue/white or whatever it was
moral of the story
dont try to do things after being up at work all night and then doing it while youre dead ass tired... heh
