questions:

1) Fogs turn on automatically with low beams

2) Fogs go off when switch in is off position when I turn left only

3) Fogs stay on when I pull switch to on position

4) How can I get use of the MFS to keep fogs on and off at will?

I would have to know how you wired the switch on your car. It sounds as if there is something amiss there. Had you changed any of the wiring previously?

you do have the fog equipped MFS right?

I have fog equipped MFS.

On my MFS Harness I already had the wires in docks 13 and 14, and on the back of the cluster I have the lt. blue wire in dock 4.

I grounded each fog separately

I ran the positive wires together and then ran it up through the firewall into the cluster area. I cut lt blue wire #4 going into the cluster and wired the fogs directly into it, then ran a wire off that same wire from the cluster and into a fuse tap.

I ran that fuse tap into #14 on the MFS harness wire and then ran the #13 cut, spliced into the #16 wire.

I ran it just like the directions, so maybe I fubar'd something??

Ok, so I looked at an FSM wiring diagram, my guess is that my car was wired for fog lights, so the problem was finding which lt. blue wire on the back of the fuse block inside the car to hook the fog wires too...

I had no need to follow those directions... all I needed was a MFS with Fog Switch.

I think what I am going to do is rewire like factory, hook up the fog lights to the lt. blue wire (there are two) on the back of the fuse block in the interior, and try to find the right one that turns them on and off. I think this will fix em.

Oh well, I will report back later.

Yeah, our cars were kinda unique in the fact that the wiring is there (almost complete) but no fogs installed. The directions are more for cars that didn't have that circuit to the switch, but if yours is there, it should be a plug and play. The splicing you were doing had me a little worried

Yeah, I put all back to stock wiring and then cut one of the blue wires on the back of the fuse block (not going to the cluster) and it works like stock.

Problems still persist though. I can turn on the low beams and the fogs come on with switch in off position and when I turn left the fogs go off. When I turn the switch to the on position the fogs stay on at all times but go off with the high beams... SO, I am thinking that maybe the switch is messed up? I am going to find a car with another fog MFS and see if it fixes it. Anyone got one for sale?

I'm too lazy to go back and look, but did you put in the T/S repair harness? Don't remember if yours was alright or not....

Ok man, so why did you tap into the wire going into the cluster (blue one)? that is only for the indicator for fogs to work.....

this is how i did mine, tapped into the main headlight wire before the MFS, it was a two colored wire, and thick. that way whenever the headlights come on the low-beam, the fogs have power. then connected that wire to socket 14 on the mfs, then another wire out of 13 down to the new fuse holder , and then down to the fogs ........it works like a charm, i have not touched going into the cluster yet, but i don't see a problem with that.....

i don't know, maybe you have a bad MFS. try and run the wire directly from the headlight wire to the fuse holder then to the fogs, if that works then your MFS could be bad, if it does not work, that means that maybe you tapped into the wrong wire for power originally..

i am not expert at this, just describing what i did ...

I think mine is a result of having a 2000 model year plymouth neon MFS in my car - I was reading that it may be the problem... I need to find the wiring diagram for a 2000 plymouth for the MFS and then compare it to mine 2002.

Well, if you look at the release date of the instruction manual I posted, it is dated '99. It is the one I followed for my '00, but I don't know what year switch they include with the kit. I wouldn't think it would matter since there is only 1 wiring diagram...

I just had the same problem. This is how I fixed it:

1) took out the multifunction switch and sprayed an ungodly amount of electronic cleaner on the contacts and on the plugs on the car. let it dry and re-installed it.

2) on the left side of the dash (you need to open the door to see it) is a panel with about 30 fuses. there were 2 in there that were fried on mine.

Granted, they are discussing a headlight problem, but since these go through the same Multi-Function Switch, perhaps dirty or gummed contacts are your problem ???

The only other thing that I would suggest, is spraying some clear Silicone Spray in there, after spraying the MFS with contact cleaner.
The silicone spray will help to lubricate the switch to bring back the 'smoothness' after cleaning.
