i have 2 15 inch memphis power reference and a 1200.1 kicker amp, what frequency should i set my amp to?

um........what type of box? what kinda music you listen too? all depends on your ear. Most people tune in a wide range of 30htz--and up,but not going to high, surely your amp has a crossover. See, I had my amp set at 40htz cause my box was tuned to 42htz for max spl. Guess I'm asking for alittle more info?

sealed box's have such a wide range of htz range.........you might check the manuf. website and check for specs on the subs? Let me see if it's on there site? But as a general rule for sealed box's..........i've stay'd within 50 -- 150 htz range?

k, website tells me nothing, except those subs have horrible sensitivity ratings.

what are you using to control the freq? just the passive crossover from the amp?

i think 50 is the lowest but it seems like my amp cuts out when really low bass hits. I have the frequency set at a little before half way and on higher bass songs it hits really hard and dont cut out. Should i turn the frequency up a little more?

couple more questions.............how do you have the subs wired? and how many voice coils are teh subs? When your cliping out like, ya, turn it up a little, it'll get rid of it. sounds like you are making the amp clip and go into protection mode.

with 15's, GOOD 15's the usual setting for them is 40hz-120hz

They are dual 4 ohm and i have them wired to 1 ohm and have my gain half way.

are you talking about the subsonic or the crossover....if its the subsonic set it to the lowest & if its the crossover set it to around 80-90hz.

is the amp 1 ohm stable?

yes it is

its having trouble keeping cool, either that or your pulling way too much current though the amp and its cutting out into protect mode

almost bet it's the protection mode. not doubting you, but how do youhave it wired? the speakers to the amp that is.

i'm pretty sure it's pulling way too much for my charging system since my headlights almost turn off when the bass hit. It doesn't matter now though because i blew both of my 15s yesterday

there was alot of cotton like stuff inside my box and i think it kept any air from moving in there. The voice coils are toast.

if its a sealed box the air dosent move anyway, air only moves with a port hole, however if there was alot of cotton in a sealed box that cotton is taking up airspace and too little airspace can help cook a sub since it creates so much of a vaccum the coil has so much trouble moving that it heats up alot more, this stress is also shared by the amp somewhat

having a 1000w amp, a ported box is required not optional UNLESS you have a sub that requires a huge amount of volume for sealed like the Fi Audio's

Chances are u turned ur gain up too far, and clipped the subs, meaning u sent a dirty signal to them trying to get them louder. Did you have the bass boost turned up?

subsonic filters are for PORTED BOXES.

if there was cotton in ur box it was probably polyfill and it was used to make your subs think they were in a bigger box then they were.
