issue with keyless entry and/or sentry.

i am having an 'interesting' problem. here is my attempt at describing it...
if i use the door switch to unlock the doors, as soon as i let off the switch the doors re-lock immediately. if you sit there and hold the switch up the doors remain unlocked until you let off, then they re-lock. if you get out of the car while leaving it unlocked and shut the door...it will lock itself and arm the system. so even if you exit the car with the doors unlocked it locks them when you close the door. reaching in through an open window or messing with the hood latch obviously triggers the alarm. now i know the alarm is supposed to go off when you do either of those things but only when it is locked/armed.
any thoughts on why the keyless entry and/or Sentry is going nuts?

Hmmm. Well, it is doing what it's supposed to as far as arming the alarm when the doors lock. Here is something to check. Make sure the lock button on your remote isn't stuck under the plastic housing. I have seen a couple of remotes do this, and the doors will keep locking on you. If that isn't it, pop open the remote and clean out all the dirt and grime inside. You may be surprised how nasty it will be in there. Don't use any chemicals, just some Q-tips and a soft rag should be enough.
Good luck

i am sure that it isn't the remote for the simple fact that the remote is nowhere near the car when this happens, haha. i am going to unplug the keyless entry module (per BRR's suggestion) to see if the problem lies in there...
any other suggestions?

That was going to be my next suggestion as well. The problem may lie in the RKE module itself. I figured I'd try to troubleshoot the easy stuff first.

Take it to your local car audio place that installs alarms and ask them to look at it. It might cost you a little but you dont have to worry about the work being done.

ok im assuming you have an aftermarket keyless because if its the factory keyless doing this you got a serious problem but i can help with that also.
ok 3 things can cause this
1) alarm itself went bad
2) if they used a door lock interface since your cars doorlock system is multiplexed which means the wire that sends the lock and unlock signal is the same wire (its lt. green)
3) if they didnt use the module and they made thier own interface with relays (which is my preferred way) then the lock relay went bad or a wire assosiated with that relay is grounding out
all can be fixed by unplugging the alarm, if it still dose it then you have to find the relays or the interface and unplug them also

i have the factory Sentry alarm system. i am gonna start with the keyless entry module to see if unplugging that stops the problem. i will post my results.

since its factory thats where your problem is most likely coming from, that has a direct line to the lock motors along with the multiplexed wire. if not then the most common place is in either door in a situation like this
im sure you already know but as a reference for future views the module is right under the dash, there is a screw right above the fuse access, one at the opposite side, 2 at the center defrost vents. remove the 2 front pillars which unclip. next where your cluster is softly hit up on the dash with your fist and the whole dash should pop up. the module is between the center a/c vents and the defrost vents.

I know it's old. But the only difference in my problem is that my cluster says that my door is always open. I still have yet to figure that out. But I did find another post on the other neons forum that hopefully will help. But until then my car seems haunted.
