Well the RMS will make it worth it or not. If its only putting out 500w you might as well get everything new for another $70.

It should never really enter your mind and either should bass boost.

I learned so much by just browsing through audio forums...some of those people just know so much about car audio its insane and you can find an answer to just about any question. Not to mention they sell alot of premium equipment that you can get for a steal.

alpine dosent make an mrp-m500, they make a m450, m650, m605, m850, m1001. usually in alpines the RMS rating is after the 'm'. the 450 cannot power a type-r only the 650's and 605's can, the 850's are a bit much but it can also, the 1001 is for the type-x's.

peak power is worthless you will NEVER see peak out of an amp unless the amp has been on for a few seconds and its below 50 degrees in your car. manufacturers use "PEAK" as a marketing gimick, its to get people to buy thier shit and thats exactly what it is... shit. a sony 1200w amp only puts out 400w, that amp will never put out past 600w, plus they are the dirtiest amps ive ever seen when it comes to audio quality. good amp company's like Alpine, JL, RF, ONLY publish thier RMS rating because thats what your gonna get no more, no less.

that 1500w rockford is BS they never made a 1500w amp in 2007 the only punch amp they made close was the 10001bd and @ 1ohm it puts out 1000w RMS (truth is 1800w) which is way too much for the type-r even at 2ohms.

the 650 is the perfect amp for those, they put out the same wattage as the 605 which is what im using and it hits hard, granted i have 2 type-r's and 2 605's

I can go about 70% sub volume for most music and it hits and sounds awesome. I can turn it up more for short periods and that thing slams. Im considering gettin a type-x but for now im more than satisfied with my setup. Still gotta dump this POS sony head unit and get a 9886 when i get some spare cash though.
