not much to post on before i leave for vacation. i hardwired in the radar and the nuvi as well as running the audio from the nuvi to a 2 x 35rms amp, then that into the new set of 3.5" in the dash. that british accent never sounded so good. ended up sticking the amp under the passenger seat since it is so small. i will be on vacation for the next few weeks so don't expect any updates.
when i get back i will be installing the lipit, the painted 3d tails, the fg mount for the sirius and dropping off the box to the body man to fill, smooth and paint.
new build log
time for the terrible, terrible update....
last week someone broke into my garage and stole both of my 6' tool chests, all my tools (hand and power), the rims i had pictured earlier in this thread, the factory wheels and tires for my other car, both of my air compressors and all accessories for them and a few other items. in addition to that, i had the box completed and ready to be sent out for paint but the thieving bastards beat the hell out of it with a hammer or something similiar and it is gone. they destroyed almost all of the fg and mounting rings, beat holes thru 8 layers of 1.5oz mat AND the mdf and made it a pile of scrap.
so now i have nothing left nor any tools to build another with for the next dew months while i wait for insurance money. this project is over and i will be making a plain old square sealed box next week at a friends house. i am sick of not having subs. the final install with everything completed was supposed to be on monday.

i got so sick of not having my system complete i broke down and bought a pre-fab'd box as a temporary solution just so i can have it all hooked up. did have one bright spot and found that circuit city was having a close-out and got a dual 10 sealed box for $16 after tax, so i don't feel quite so bad about buying one.
all the wire is ran and the interior speakers are connected but i ran out of time. tomorrow i will connect the subs and amp and be done with it until i get some cash from the insurance company to buy some real tools and build another creation.
i am really impressed with the alpine comps i changed to. i had type-r 17ls before and happened upon a deal on a pair of type-x 177r. i know it's not really fair to compare them to the R comps that were run on the hu alone, but good god do these things sound good. i haven't even played with the crossover settings or amp settings (just running on about 60% power for now to check it). can't wait until i dial them in this weekend.
