Fuse just went missing?

Post by titansxt » Wed May 07, 2008 1:11 am

So my PS side headlight (SRT) went out so I bought a new bulb for it. Put in the bulb and checked the light, still not working. Great, what could this be?! I went and grabbed my old light and checked it, it was not even dead. My dad told me to check my fuses, great idea! My fuse was straight missing from the block. I don't get how that happend. Popped in the new fuse and no problem at all (old light is back in). While I was there I got a great idea that everyone should do. Put velcro on the fuse container and stuck it inside my dash. I did it to the sxt too.

What's up with that wire sticking into the fuse location, is that normal? Is that the one that was missing. Just curious, haven't seen a wire placed in there like that.

A better way, altho not cheap, but you can find these cheaper. The draw back is alot of fuse covers won't fit with these installed.

Back to "topic".
Maybe someone had previously jumpered a wire instead of a fuse and the jumper fell out, causing your light to go out.

The car is a work in progress, I have no idea where that wire goes. I am the second owner of the car. [img] tags still do not work, already tried.
The two open spots on the converter allow for the two new fuses to be separately fuse protected for 10 amp max total branch.
Just ten? The cover would still fit.

It isn't much, if your only replacing one, but when wal-mart used to carry them they were about $4 or $5.... Oh, yeah Del City has a $25 mininum order, but there is alot of cool stuff on there, so $25 isn't too difficult to spend!
Little Fuse used to be the brand that Wally World used to carry.

occasional demons, Yea, I have seen that stuff at the wal marts by me. And for some reason I think that the $25 might turn out to be $75 by the time I am done there.

03blackrt, thanks!

:withstupid:

And fuse taps are just as bad IMO.

At least the links I gave him are for fuseable taps, but they can still be abused by using too high of a fuse. These are only good for low amp draw applications like LEDS or Aux. power for radio memory back up. Like anything else, a little common sense goes a long way. I am not a fan of jamming a wire in there, as the contacts can be sprung resulting in a loose connection that can heat up with out being under a heavy amp load.
This would be the best option for adding circuits, as long as it's properly wired/fused to the battery.

I didn't see the original link you posted...the Littlefuse option is much better than the wire jam. The last link you put up is really nice

Titansxt,
Question for you (or for anyone else who knows).....

Which fuse in the fuse panel was it, that went "missing" and you had to replace ?

I am kind of surprised that Chrysler would put a fuse in the headlamp circuit ...... :?

usually when theres a fuse for the headlight or foglight the fuse is for the relay not the circuit

The low beams each have their own fuse (in car), and the high beams go through a relay in the PDC under the hood. The high beams are also fused in the PDC IIRC. They likely did this so if the (a) fuse blows there is still one light that works.
