HID's cause radio interference?

Post by clancaster23 » Sat May 17, 2008 6:03 pm

Just noticed today that on certain radio staions (not satellite radio) I lose reception if my headlights are on. If the parking lights are on, I still get reception but if the lights are on, I lose two of the three stations that I listen to. Anyone ever notice this and know of a fix?

Since Both the HIDs and the antenna are grounded to the body of the vehicle, i really don't think there is much you can do, aside from listening to sat. radio.

The grounds for the hids being mounted to close to the antenna on the fender, can cause that type of interference too. If you were to move the grounds to the drivers side of the vehicle, it may just help you out.. not sure.

It's not a huge deal. I don't drive a lot at night so not really worried about fixing it, was just curious about it. I have one ground for each light on each side of the car. There is a small bolt just in front of the radiator and I grounded them there. Not too close to the antenna.

lol I used to listen to AM, but they changed the station that used to play all the good music (Big Band, Swing, etc) into a sports channel.

So you plugged them into your stock wiring?
