That is a verry good point. I have seen some of the dumbest people that had all the schooling in the world and had all kinds of certifications but didn't know what the F they where talking about. I'm allways one to say if you can do it for cheaper then why spend the dollars on the name brand part. At the same time I have seen some of the dumbest things done to cars by people that thought they knew what they where talking about.Opi wrote:difference is though, i don't claim, nor have i ever, to be an electrics specialist. i do know how to install stereos in a car i own, or have owned, because i research, ask questions, and find out everything before i do so. i don't take my answers out of a book. i take the answers from the actual owners of the vehicles.
Anyone have really good hookups?

because usually theres a reason why that part is more expensive. the ClassII system for example, if you dont buy that harness and any part of the SRS system has a fault and the light in the cluster dosent exist or is blown... youll never know that there was something wrong with it, so if your shop uses the 70-2001, the customer can now sew the shit out of you if they get into an accident and can claim thier injuries because they didnt know the airbag wasnt going to go off. thats a big reason why rescently in Florida at least if you dont use the ClassII harness when you replace the radio and state finds out they can and will shut your shop down, there has been a few times where ive had to turn business away because the guy didnt want to buy that harness. of course usually they come back because we sell it cheaper than anyone else.
theres simillar reasons why the Lan-Bus/CAN-Bus harnesses are the way they are, except GM now i guess is realizing that the chime though the radio was a bad idea because if the factory radio dies and the same senario happens they can now be liable. alot of times a more expensive part isnt expensive just because the company wants to make more money like in JL's case.
