calibrating gauges

calibrating gauges

anybody know how to calibrate the speedometer needle? mine is about 12mph above what i'm actually traveling and i would like to get it back to normal.
New Hampshire is the only state with the word DIE in it's state motto.

Do you have stock size tires? If yes, how can it be so far off. I don't think these things just lose calibration.

my needle broke and i fixed it and put it back on and it was off a bit. but i figured it out. so i guess this thread is useless now.

I'm pretty sure someone on here took a complete cluster apart. I think he simply pulled on the needle to get it off and push it back in. But it would need adjustement to be correct.

just take the needle off and turn the car off. set the needle on the stopper, and then turn the car on and it should be in the right position.

also if you hold in the button on the cluster and turn on the ign, the cluster dose a self test

well i turned the car on and then the needle went up to 12 mph then i just took it off and set it to where it should be and now it's doing pretty good. i'll definitely try that self test thingy out though. gf's got the car right now though

No, it just does a full sweep of the gauges, you'd have to readjust the needle.

if you turn ON ignition - the needles jumps to the zero position.
not really easy to put it on in right position - but it works.
(Don't try to stick it directly to zero - the needles weight will cause that it sits under zero than and shows less speed
