Post by Fuzzyneon » Mon Jul 21, 2008 4:49 pm

In the next 2 months i plan on doing a full system upgrade 1 kicker l5 in a truck box full kicker tweeters and components kicker 1200w amp now what can i do do to prevent the ever so anoying rattle. i know its gonna eventually happen and i hated it on all my other cars and never cared to fix it on it.

EDIT- i plan on getting a cap should i need one? im only amping my sub but dont wanna run into lights dimming or any issues like that

Sound deadening material everywhere in the trunk. Especially the trunk lid and the place where your 6x9's are mounted on.

don't bother with a cap. it is a waste of money. upgrade your power and ground wires under the hood and cover the trunk in some form of sound deadener. i used dynamat extreme and covered everything i possibly could. about 95% of the rattles are gone from a pair of alpine type-r 10's getting around 600rms each. there is still some rattle but you will never get rid of it all. be sure to put a layer on the back of your license plate too.

ok asfar as trunk rattle, i did dynamt extreme my whole trunk and the rear deck....still had quite a few rattles...so i lowered the latch on my trunk so that i have to shut it pretty hard but now i have almost no rattles....i then went a step further and found the vents that are both sides of the trunk close to the tail lights and pulled them out and sealed over those, not to mention the "great stuff" i used ti fill in all hollow spots. now i have virtually no rattle at all...even running 3k.

**also note**....b4 u do any deadening or anything else.

do the trunk latch thing first....i probably would have saved me alot of time and money i'm guessing. then i'd plug the vents...and see where u are...i did things opposite of that way
