door speakers

Post by Jwood1712 » Thu Oct 02, 2008 5:38 pm

So a friend of mine had some kicker speakers that he bought brand new, the premium srt door ones. He got a good deal on some other ones he wanted so he passed the kickers off on me. I was all set to put them in when...the wiring harness in the door for the old speaker didnt fit right. I'm sure I'm not the first, but is there a way I can make it work? say an adapter of some sort? or swapping the harness attached to the speaker without destroying it?

thanks

i think there was a mopar adapter at one time... but you are better off just splicing them together

I have all 6 SRT kickers in and that's what i had to do. Not sure about what Danteneon had to do.

what did you splice? the harness inside the door to the harness on the new speaker? or did you just get the harness that fits and put it on there?

yeah.. just clipped off my factory connector and the ones on the kickers then spliced them together.

Just make sure you get the wires right.. not sure if they are a different color or not

Nice, thanks. I emailed the parts guy at one of the dealerships and he says he has a diagram he's gunna fax me to see. But I'm still waiting on that otherwise I'll try your fix.

I kinda rigged mine I'm afraid to say :beatstick:

But the connection has never come loose, so that is good

I got the proper sized female spade connectors and slid them on to the terminals directly. Be sure to isolate the terminals if you do this.

Update::: Thanks to you guys for the info...I did the cut and splice method. The wires of course were different colors. one was black and gray and the other was red and green. But I got it to work first try. The right side is done now; I'll work on the other side later maybe. I also have the dashboard speakers too. Does anyone know if they fit the stock harness or if I'm gunna have the same problem?

Next job is to do the back dash ones then the sub in the trunk...maybe if I can make it stop leaking water.

all the connectors for the kicker speakers will be different as they changed the speaker plug for all 6 speakers i think in 02+

I often wonder why they can't just leave things alone. But what are you going to do...

Good deal. Remember, if you hook them up backwards, they will still work. They just wont sound good.

As far as your trunk leak goes, replace your taillight gaskets. Trust me.

Part #5303476AB (right side)...MSRP $7.25
Part #5303477AB (left side)...MSRP $7.65

Don't ask me why they are different prices

Hey, John, Why are the gaskets different prices for the right side vs. the left side. :rofl2:

I knew I was setting myself up for that one

And the dealer is the only place that sells them.
