auto volume adjust is shit. i have it in my other car and disabled it. the music will fluctate based on the speed traveling but it will never go beyond a certain point, usually just over half volume. having it go down every time i slow down was a pain in the ass as well.

you cannot run the alpine hu with the factory cd changer but you can buy an alpine cd changer to use with it. doesn't make much sense though. that would be like buying a dual-core computer and loading windows 3.1 on to it - sure it will work in theory but why bother? you already said you use the ipod in the car so imagine how much more you will like it when it sounds 100x better.

radios in the viper, or any car for that matter, are an option. even the base am/fm only radio costs you something (built into the pricing) so anything above that is available, it will just cost more.

my current hu has a usb port, sd slot, aux-in, sirius and a cd player. to this day i have never payed a cd thanks to having 10gigs on the sd and usb, another 16gig on the iphone and sirius.

Yeah, I imagine that would get quite annoying seeing as I have no knowledge of how this actually works in real life.

hahaha, yeah I suppose that makes sense. I may as well just load whatever music it is onto my iPod anyway since this is already my primary source.

I realize there are options, but damn, I'd just think a $60k car (or however much a Viper costs) would come standard with something a little better than the same H/U you can get in a stripped Neon.. If anything, you should be able to DOWNGRADE to that radio, but I don't think it should be standard equipment on one..

there is a reason they base base models and a reason they make a profit from upgrades.

Yup...it's also why Chrysler is doing so shitty and possibly being bought out

My friends Mini Cooper base model is freaking sweet and the stock radio is amazing. That is a whole other discussion though

I agree. I feel like compared to other cars or similar pricing, the Neon for example doesn't even have comparable options let alone base equipment. No sort of mp3 friendly H/U, no fuel mileage/trip statistics. I could go on. I'm definitely not putting down the Neon... I love my car, but it's the truth, and an unfortunate one at that. It just seems like they are behind even Ford and GM in several respects.

every auto line has drawbacks. the only way to play mp3 files on my jag was to buy a $250 (installed on sale) aux input, but it did have usb, rca and ipod connections. even then it was only available for 2 of the model lines.
