it is because you burned the disc with DATA FILES not music files.
You have an option in nero express (idk what software your using)
to burn an mp3 audio cd, this STILL enabled you to add 100 songs to a cd.
i'm pretty sure that he's not a complete tard and knows that if hes trying to get mp3s on a disc hes going to use mp3 files and not "DATA FILES" as you suggest. i think you are off topic on this matter.
"you cannot just copy the files to the cd."
incorrect, it IS as simple as that.
i also dont know what burning program you use, but it really doesnt matter anyways... in nero for example youd use CD-ROM (ISO) as the type of disc.. and thats a standard in any burning program... and then you throw the mp3 files into it. then burn it. and then youre done.
theres no difference in burning an mp3 cd or a data cd.. they are the same thing.. the mp3 files are still data files and they are still mp3 files.
make sure the mp3s you are using do not have DRM (from itunes, etc) since the player will not play protected files... other than that you might just have a bum player... in the past ive had various problems with sony players..
and make sure you are doing everything with these guidelines in mind (from the user manual)
Notes on CD-R/CD-RW discs
• Some CD-Rs/CD-RWs (depending on the
equipment used for its recording or the condition
of the disc) may not play on this unit.
• You cannot play a CD-R/a CD-RW that is not
finalized.
• The unit is compatible with the ISO 9660 level 1/
level 2 format, Joliet/Romeo in the expansion
format, and Multi Session.
• The maximum number of:
– folders (albums): 150 (including root and empty
folders).
– files (tracks) and folders contained in a disc: 300
(if a folder/file names contain many characters,
this number may become less than 300).
– displayable characters for a folder/file name is
32 (Joliet), or 64 (Romeo).
• When the disc is recorded in Multi Session, only
the first track of the first session format is
recognized and played (any other format is
skipped). The priority of the format is CD-DA and
MP3/WMA/AAC.
–When the first track is a CD-DA, only CD-DA of
the first session is played.
–When the first track is not a CD-DA, the MP3/
WMA/AAC session is played. If the disc has no
data in any of these formats, “NO MUSIC” is
displayed.
