MFS relay

Post by srtgtr34 » Wed Dec 17, 2008 9:20 pm

I would like to change the relay to get rid of the fast flash that comes with leds so I need to know if one of these relays would work in the neon, I do know its a three prong but I don't have any idea on which one it would be:

I know most of you guys would say go out and get a 2003 and up relay but as I hear they still blink faster than stock.

Any help is appreciated!

I already knew about that thread. Finding anouther relay like that stock one and breaking the connection is my last resort. If I remember correctly a guy said that the 2002 and up relays are different than the 2000-01's.
And I much rather have the same signal rate as stock if its possible

i can understand, but you're not going to find a compatible relay to replace the one you have now......they just dont exist...

if someone can find me a relay out of a 2000 i'de be more than happy to research it, modify it, and ship it back.....

I have a 2000 and got a 2003 Flasher so that mine matched the picture.

After I cut the spot, my lights DID flash faster than stock. but NOT THAT fast...

and no matter my LED's or regular bulbs, my turn signals flash faster than normal, but not ricer fast.

p.s. now I have EVERY bulb led no more incandescence anywhere.
This is Awesome to know.
THANK YOU for this info !!

Looks like I am going to be switching over to LED's very soon ...... :D

Actually, I tried this mod on my 2000 flasher after looking up the chip datasheet for the little 8-pin DIP chip that controls the flasher. IIRC, the left/right turn signals worked normally, but the hazard lamp function buzzed very rapidly before burning out the hazard lamp fuse. I might have to try this again to verify.

When I get my 2004 relay installed I'll pm you, so I can send my 2000 to you. Then we can have the mod diagram for both relays and post it here so this problem doesn't come up for anyone else.
