Engine noise on my radio

Post by supermike » Tue Dec 23, 2008 11:32 pm

I think I'm picking up engine noise through my radio. When the music is quieter I can hear a ticking, it seems to correspond with rpm. Would the coil pack or spark plug wires do that? Is there any way to help that without drastic modifications? I got an Alpine headunit this summer, but i think maybe the stock one did it too.

Is is just when you are playing AM/FM or also during CD playback or others? Do you run any preouts to amplifiers?

To start with, I'd pull the radio out, and ground the black ground wire in the harness to a good chunk of metal behind the dash.

Just FM radio, maybe AM, but I don't listen to it. I'm not using any preouts either.
