HID's Causing Corrosion

Anyone else notice any battery corrosion on the terminals after a hid installation? I mounted my hids on the bolt and after two days of operation, its coroded again. Its been causing my car to not start until I give the positive terminal a shake. I know how to fix the problem, but would just like to know if its happened to anyone else.

I will post a pic tomorrow.

no problems for me .. but basically once corrosion starts it will never really stop.. you can clean it to no end but it will come back.. at least that was my finding

then i dropped in a new battery, new battery terminals and wires, and sprayed with some protection stuff..

Well below is a pic of the corrosion.

I'm guessing the corrosion lead to my battery terminal getting cracked... Which made me have to get a jump from work today just to get home.

if i were you i'd do a bit better job of attaching those wires. you can pick up battery terminals with allen set screws on ebay pretty cheap and have a much better connection, safer and better looking. this is my old setup that is going to be replaced with knu terminals this weekend. i got the set (+ and -) for about $20 delivered on ebay, each with two 4g and two 8g connections.

I would buy those, IF I had a good audio system. I just went out and got 2 new terminals, (pos & neg) that say they are corrosion resistant and I even sprayed down my terminals and wire with the corrosion protector spray

The terminals plus spary costed me less than 9 bucks, money well spent...

Man, I just bought HIDs and a wiring harness, and now reading this, I'm kinda afraid to install it on my battery now. I just went through my subs killing my old battery and I just bought a brand new one about a month ago, and I don't want the same shit to happen to my new battery lol.

hid lighting only requires more power to start but once lit they consume less power than the stock halogens.

+1

mat666
And for the subs... you most be drawing power from some source. check wires, fuse etc.
make sure u have a fuse that is able to suport for your subs.
hope this helps...[/quote]

i can bypass all your problems and tell you to just connect it to the fuse box like i did and havent had a problem with it and ive had mine for like 6 months..if you dont know where to hook it up in the fuse box ill take a pic for you and show you, but so much easier to hook it up there and so much cleaner looking never mind here is what i told mat666

1.take lid off of fuse box
2. there are two bolts(one with nothing, one with the neg. conection)
3.connect it to the one with nothing under it
4.make sure you all hooked up the right way and turn them lights on

hope this helped and it so much cleaner to connect them here
