hids hum

so i have a hid kit from vvme works / looks great, but my question is can i have my headlights on with the car turn off without hurting my car, i shut off my car with the the headlights on and heard a buzzing/humming sound and i shut them off and it stop.

What you're hearing are your ballasts operating. I think of it as more of a buzzing then a hum with mine. I corresponds to the frequency of the High voltage AC that the ballast's output.
