I thought that ONLY the Turbo PT's have the 140 amp alt ?

2002-up PT Cruisers were available with the turbo, but I have never seen one in a junkyard yet.
All the PT's I have seen in the junkyard, were N/A.

well im looking to upgrade my amps to infinity kappa 1 and an infinity kappa four. both have a fuse rating of 80 amps i believe.

so 160 amps...

i need a bigger alt. i would buy a new one from somewhere. but i need to know if the 140 amp alt plug would fit my car

Matt (nitehawk) put a PT alt on his car last year. I don't recall which model he used it from.

keep in mind the alt is regulated by the pcm, so just sticking a bigger one in there really won't help you a lot. you would be better served by doing the big 6 (we need 6 not 3) and if that doesn't solve it then add a second battery.

Correct.
It was from an N/A model, and not a Turbo model..... He said the Turbo PT Alt. would not fit.

The maximum amperage is dependent upon the build of the alternator itself, if that is what you are asking.
And Yes, the PCM regulates how much voltage the alternator puts out.

To compliment this:

The alternator will put out whatever amperage it is capable of, to maintain the target voltage. The target voltage will vary depending on ambient temperature. There isn't really a direct way to control the amperage output. It is basically a response to how far the voltage drops.

so the 136 amp alt from a turbo pt cruiser is a DIRECT BOLT ON TO MY 04 SXT?
the only thing i would need to do is upgrade wiring to 4 gauge?

is this the SAME with the 05 dodge neon 120 amp alt?

Do you read? No, the turbo pt alt will not work.

The 120A neon alt will work.

If your really serious you could get ahold of the guys at mechman they offer a bolt in 270 amp for the sohc neon thats what i have in mine with red top and im running 15.4v at idel dropping down to 14.0-14.2 full tilt with a kicker zx2500.1 and a kicker zx650.4

15.4v is way too much at idle. you are going to screw up something electrical, probably soon.
