Where to put fuse

Post by nerox » Sun Nov 28, 2010 11:55 am

so i have a 2AWG wiring kit in my Neon and i want to put a fuse under the hood for safety reasons and accessibility.

but where to put it?

the cable goes into the car in the passenger side footwell (drivers side for LHD cars) but there seems to be no space under the hood to mount the fuse.

any ideas ?

You may just need to be a bit creative. The fuse, IIRC, should go as close to the battery as possible. I have an inline fuse that comes right off of the battery on the amp wire.

my old wiring had one of those in-line blade fuses, but because this wire is HUGE it simply isn't feasable. i am wondering about putting it inside the case of the air filter box

I wouldn't put it in the box, but you could mount it to the side.

Snag this guy, its even in the UK. LINK

Thanks for that.

that price for a fuse holder in mad, i paid about that for the whole wiring kit!

I have one of these with the built in voltmeter :

its pretty big, but then all 2awg / 0awg fuse holders seem to be. i thought about mounting it on top of the airbox but there isn't enough room when you close the hood :banghead: [/img]

i got mine from knu koncetpz. designed for 0/2/4g wire i mounted it directly behind the battery next to the coolant overflow bottle.

no matter what fusing system you go with it has to be within 18" of the battery, closer if you can. the fuse is only there to protect the battery in the case of the wire grounding out somewhere.
