I need something to wire up to a switch to light the trunk up at night.

Does your trunk not already have a light? Or are you replacing the one that is there?

Doesn't have a light. My car came with A/C and P/S. That's about it.

The first ones will shine more like a dot where as the oznium ones will be a wider shine...

I would suggest a strip of leds if you want to light up the trunk...

Just figured Id throw it out there

:withstupid:

You are going to want something that gives more full lighting than one that basically is accent lighting and basically lights up a small area. Unless you get a few of the ones you are looking at and wire them in different spots in the trunk.

I referenced Crystal's thread when looking, but I don't necessarily need it as bright as hers. I just something so when I get home from going shopping at night (most of the time), I can actually see where things are in the trunk and make sure I got everything out. I tried a stick on light; it worked somewhat alright until the body kept popping off of the base.

I was looking at this before I found those other two; figured it would be brighter than the one from Oznium since they are SMD LEDs?...

Providing I understand the "technical" info of these, the SMD strip is 113 lumens (30 LEDs @ 1,200mcd each) vs. 32.5?

Then just buy one 28" strip if you don't want it as bright, mine has two of the strips in it. The side emitting LED strips you'd have a hell of a time mounting so they aim properly but they could work. I don't see them being brighter though. I use similar strips in headlights and they aren't super bright output wise.

I used 2 led stips, but mine are blue. It's plenty bright like crystal's. Got the strips at Advance Auto parts. Wired them into the trunk light wiring so no add-on switch was needed.

I thought it might be easier because it looked like I could just mount the backing against the upper deck and they would be facing down?

I'll take the advice of the expert here though, and order one strip of LED's...same one as you have.

Thank you all for the input!

good plan. you can always get another if one isn't bright enough.

while leds are nice i still prefer neon tubes for lighting larger areas like a trunk. gives a nice even glow vs a bunch of spots.
