Audio connector question (pics)

Post by gcretro » Sun Feb 20, 2011 12:28 am

04 Neon SE. Previous owner had installed a panasonic CD player. I am looking a buying CD player with mp3 capability... looking at a few in craigslist.

I removed the current Panasonic and found a gray factory connector and a white connector spliced into the wires from the Panasonic. Factory connector plugs into this white one.

Is this white connector universal? or will I end up having to buy a specific one for whatever brand player I buy from craigslist?[/url]

It allows you to quickly and easily add an aftermarket stereo. The aftermarket harness uses the same colors as aftermarket stereos. By plugging into the factory harness with it, you don't have to cut factory wires or try and match different colors up. Perfectly normal install :)

So If I get a different head-unit, I have to take out this white connector from my old unit and use it on it's wires right? (in short, that white connector is all I need)

If you are looking for a good cd receiver with MP3 capability.

Scroll down and you will find a good JVC headunit.
Drove my neon until it was killed in a flood.

Yes cut it at the point where the connecton was made...leave it as long as possible since you never know when you may change the radio again...

Also it looks like you have an 03+ you will also need to keep the antenna adapter as well....

I am an ALPINE fan so I am kind of biased but depending on what you are looking for almost every CD player has MP3 capability...
