Starting a new system in my car...

So I was hunting around the forum a while back, searching for info on an alternator, which I now know that I can purchase a non turbo PT cruiser alternator to put into my 03 SE. Which makes me very happy. Lol. Well I came across someone saying that our cars have to upgrade 6 wires, instead of 3. I want to know where in the forum I can find info about this or can someone explain, because I must accomplish this before my next set up. Thanks ahead of time. Oh, and yes I am a new member.
