My car was running fine, I stopped to grab a drink at wawa and it wouldnt restart. No crank, not even a starter click. I originally thought it was the starter relay, swapped it out and still nothing. My dash lights were all coming on at first, after about 20 key turns, they stopped working but i still have power to my ac, headlights, ect. . . .Suggestions?

-update, I just pulled apart the steering column and removed the plug that goes to the turn signal portion of the MFS and realized that the plug is slightly melted. could this cause my ignition problem?

-I need to get this thing up and running before carlisle!

The accessories don't draw several hundred amps like the starter does. Try jumpstarting it. If it works, it was the battery. If not, report back.

I tried jumping it, no luck. My radio, idiot lights, rear view mirror lights etc wont work at all. It acts like the key isnt turned to the "on" position when it is. But for some reason, the power windows work when its turned to "on"

I do have a chime when the key is inserted into the ignition, just nothing past that. . .My car is stranded at a fuckin gas station 30 miles from my house. :'(

The only thing I can think of is the ignition switch on the steering column. But I'm not sure if I have to get one from the dealer or what. Idk if the SKIM is in the ign. switch or somewhere else.

Check your terminals, mine has done that. or check your fuses.

The fuel pump doesnt even seem to be priming. I doubt its a battery related issue. Ill be checking my fuses when I get back to my car tomorrow.

NEED IGN HELP ASAP!

This does not seem like a battery issue, my fuel pump isnt priming and I dont even hear a click from the starter relay

Sounds like a wiring/grounding problem. Check the ASD relay as it controls alot of things. A simple voltmeter and quick troubleshooting should reveal the gremlin.

ASD relay? If those are the ones under the hood, Ive already swapped them around with no luck

Update, i took an ohmmeter to the fuses. Fuse 7 (inside) is blown (B/U LP SW....EBL....O/HEAD CONSOLE). when replaced, still nothing works...

Also fuse 4 (SIREN...IOD....INT LPS) is reading 0.023 while all the others are reading 0.00.....any ideas?

The SKIM module is unrelated to the ignition switch. You can swap a new one in and as long as the key is cut to it, it will work fine. The SKIM module only comes into play when during cranking, so it is possible that either your key or the module may have an issue. I've heard of keys randomly losing SKIM communication for no apparent reason, though it's very unlikely. Are you getting an odometer display (i.e. can you pull codes)?

It sounds like either a bad ground/connection, a bad ign switch, or possibly a computer related issue.

The circuits you refer to have nothing to do with starting and running the engine.

The melted plug for your MFS is normal (sad but true). It won't cuase the problems you are describing though.

If I put a junkyard PCM in it, will it at least give me dash lights and crank if thats the issue?

sounds dumb, but check your battery terminals... have you had the battery out recently? Dans car wouldn't start one day but had accessories. Turns out he left the battery cable loose and it wasn't making a good connection.

Checked it already

Pull the battery, take to your local parts store... have it checked.

They will tell you if it's good or needs a charge... or needs replaced.

Check the real simple stuff first.

Just cause it won't start with jumper cables doesn't mean it's still not the battery.

I have full power to my headlights, flashers, dome light and power windows. I have NO idiot lights, turn signals ect which all use about the same amount of power. If i have enough power for hazard lights, I would have enough power for turn signals and idiot lights. I wish it was as simple as a bad battery, but that doesnt seem to be the case

The turn signal problem would be related to the MFS, or the connector.

Check the wiring around that area too. It is possible it melted into other wires, causing the other problems.

hmm does your car have an alarm system like an aftermarket?

It very well may be the PCM. It's tough to condemn one though, and you don't have the means to test it correctly. In theory, even with SKIM conflict issues, any PCM should allow the motor to crank. I believe the SKIM just cuts fuel, not power to the starter relay, but I can't say for sure. If this is indeed the case, maybe you can borrow a test PCM from a friends car? Has to be NGC of course.

To borrow a test PCM, it would need flashed to his VIN/SKIM.

The red/white wire in the Data Link Connector is powered through the ASD relay contacts. Fuse 21 in the PDC.

If the fuse is good, pull the cover on the ASD relay, and manually close the contacts. You should get the data link back.

The SKIM, if it is involved, will still keep the PCM from grounding the coils, injectors, and starter relay coil. You can do the same with all the relays in the PDC, but if testing the starter relay, be sure it is out of gear!

which relay are u saying i need to manually close to get data link back. If I do it to the fuel pump or horn, it works but i tried it with "auto shut down (didnt get link back) and the starter (didnt crank)"

BIG UPDATE: All dash lights are back! Fuel pump primes...everything except for crank. When i turn the key, the starter relay makes contact but no crank, no nothing. Is it possible that my starter just shit out. Last time I had starter issues, it would spin but not engage the flywheel. Lmk ur thoughts

Have the starter tested at an auto parts store...
