Ok guys, so I was doing my PT Cruiser alt swap and made a huge mistake. My power wire that I added ended up grounding out on the catalytic converter. Yes I know, this is a serious problem and I messed up. Well it was a used alt so I took it back and got another one, this one still is making my battery light come on, and doesnt seem to be charging my batt. I am going to put my stock alt back on and see what happens, maybe I really got a dud, idk. But, what could I have fried/messed up?

I am thinking a wire between the alt and batt is bad or a sensor or something. I really dont know how to check this stuff, but I do know if it was a sensor, it would pull a code, no?

Any other ideas? I was thinking ECU too, but the car will start and drive, it just doesnt charge the batt. Any help is welcome, thank you. Oh, and I have a 2003 Dodge Neon SE. Hell even text me @6023586544. I will be putting the stock alt on right now.

Ok, so I put the stock alt back on, same ish... So I know its something else. What would stop the alt from sending a charge to the batt?

SO I did some more research and Ive heard that the regulator is in the PCM. So may I need a new PCM? Someone else said I can purchase an external voltage regulator and run it between the alt and batt.

There is a fuseable link connecting the alternator to the starter, which in turn connects to the positive terminal of the battery. If you grounded the positive connection to the alternator, more than likely it blew this fuse.

I seen that, but dont know how to get to it, or where the fuse itself is located... Do I take the headers off and then pull the wire off the starter?
