not in sync

Post by thisdieingdream1 » Sat Sep 01, 2012 7:42 pm

Hey guys! Just had a question.

I have those led side mirror turn signal lights, those 3m ones. They are pretty nice how ever they are not in sync with my head/taillight turn sigs.

My wire set up is froom the led side mirros light to my headlights tapped into my headlight turn sig wires about 6 to 12 inches from the turn sig bulb.

Problem is my head/taillights sig will flash then go off the my side mirrors will flash then go off. Ill describe it another way. My headlight and taillights will flash for the turn sig, then my mirrors will flash. They wont all flash together at the same time!

Help!

Try swapping the wires. I'm betting you have the LED polarity backwards. If that doesn't do it, Not sure what else is going on.

imho it shouldn´t depend on the position you used for inserting the wire. When I soldered the wires for my fender-side-turnlights nearly at the same position, it is working well (with standard bulbs, no LED).
So maybe more what occasional demons said, but otherwise I think the LED´s won´t work at all with a wrong polarity.
Maybe a bad ground ?

That is true. The leds wont light if i flip the wires. I remember them only working while being wired one way. Anyone else? ????

I just wanna get them in sync...it looks stupid plus atracts cops

Easiest and cheapest thing might be to try 1st is a LED-bulb at the socket of the frontlights turnlight. See if there is any effect - eg. that LED blinks asynchronous, too or not.
If there is no effect, maybe try a bulb at the mirrors end of the wire instead of the LED and then parallel with the LED.

Ill have to try that. I need to rewire them anyways. Thanks for that tip!

LEDs light up quicker than standard bulbs
change all blinker lights to LED
could that be the solution?

Are they alternating, or just faster than the bulbs?

If just faster, then yeah, what Carsten said. (Jenni)

They also go dark faster too. No time needed to heat and cool the filament that bulbs use.

A good example would be cars with the third brake light that is led, and the regular lamps with bulbs in them. You can see the difference in response time.

LEDs will flash faster than bulbs. Those M3 mirrors loose way too much mirror for my liking. I recommend switching all your blinker bulbs to LEDs please use the flat super bright

These for example are bright and are very noticable during the day. All those flat super brights are omnidirectional so they emit more concentrated light out.

These are what most people use and on bright days hardly noticable. The rounded LEDs loose intensity because outside light actually hits the diode also.

Oh, understood.

I figured out the reason my mirror leds are not in sync with my head/taillight flashers.
I have my mirror lights staying on the whole time when my day lights are on/ headlights. The only way to work it is to wire it one way.

LEDs will flash faster than incandescent bulbs because of their design. LEDs are on or off. Incandescent due the filament that glows it never fully turns off because the realy open and closes the circuit faster than the filament can cool down.

I think they were actually alternating with the flashers. Just a guess tho. If the mirrors were on, then when the turn signal came on, it would tun off the led in the mirror like alternating side markers.

Voltage on both sides of the load equals no current flow.
