Post by v793jt0 » Thu Sep 05, 2013 12:16 am

So the other day I saw this cable was barely hanging in there anyone know what its for or what happens if it ends up tearing completely?

Its the green cable

also noticed on the back of the engine by the exhaust manifold that a cable had broken from something

the cable off to the side looks like it went on the little black box looking thing

Anyone have any insight on this ? thanks .. my car is a 2002 Dodge Neon base model mtx with aftermarket a/c[/url]

this won't be much help but all I can tell you it that they are ground cables. the cars body and motor is used as a common ground for many circuits throughout the car. they definitely need to be replaced

That black thing is some sort of noise suppressor. I'd suggest fixing it if you can. .I don't think it will hurt running it with it off

as for the other braided cable that's a ground strap. I wanna say it goes somewhere near the battery tray. I'd fix that too. .

The 'green' ones are corroded copper ground straps.

The car will run without them - BUT since proper electrical grounds are so important on these cars, I'd replace them when you can.
