ABS and (!) light stuck!

Post by neon20162000 » Fri Jan 10, 2014 10:53 am

I know i can just pull the lights, and if i cant find a solution to the problem thats what i will be doing!
I just bought the car the other day and the abs light and the park brake light is on... now the park brake isnt stuck, and my abs does work... is there an easy fix or should i just pull the stupid little lights...

Also i have to go for my safety soon would those cause a fail in safety or no? or would pulling the lights cover it enough for a pass?

Does the car need new brakes? if the fluid level is low (indicating a leak, or very low pads) the brake light will come on.

Yeah - fluid is the 1st thing to check.
That might fix the (!)

Though you think ABS is working (you really have ABS?)
a sensor might be defective?

Not only SRT came with ABS.
Do you have drums or discs rear?

SE is lowest, then LE, LX
Beside that there are RT and SRT

Later there where SXT instead of SE,LE and LX

When DCX resumed selling Neons in Canada, they were badged as SX 2.0. They have always been known as Neons here in the US.

By the way, my 1GN had rear drum brakes but it had ABS. I don't know if this translates to anything with 2GN's or not but thought that I would point it out.

If the brake tubing from the master cylinder goes directly to the firewall, and there is nothing else mounted there/plumbed in, you do not have ABS.

Usually there would not ba a bulb in there, on a base model. If you installed another cluster, from an R/T or an SRT, you would have these lights illuminated. The only reasonable cure is pulling the bulb. Unless you are good at micro soldering...

Just remember there is no parking brake reminder.

As far as I know, all 2nd gens. with rear drums have no ABS, but would be happy if someone has a proof for a 2nd with drums AND ABS.

I believe I read somewhere that it might be possible to delete ABS in the smart Cluster with DRB III.

It is a point I have to figure out soon, too.

The mileage is stored for sure in the PCM as well.

You Need a DRBIII to read that out.

So try to get them to delete the non-present functions while reading the cars original mileage :D

oh - btw. SX for Canada ? Interesting. But what is ES ?

ACR - sure, i forgot, Really really seldom here. I only saw two in advertisements and know of one of them owned in Hamburg.

Was a link in signature. Plus replying to an old post is a tip off. Not always, but anymore, very few people search, or go that far to find a thread.
