How-To: PT Cruiser chrome gas door install

Tools Needed:

T-35 Torx Head
Pliers
Plastic Cutting Snips
Phillips Head Screw Driver
Flat Head Screw Driver
Chrome gas door, (mine was from a pt)

Step 1

Remove 2 - T35 Trox Head Screws so that the Cap will come off

Step 2

Remove the 3- Phillips head screws around the filler neck

Step 3

Remove the Gas lining from inside the gas area

Step 4

Cut the inside Gas lining with the plastic snips AS SHOW BELOW

Step 5

Put the Gas lining back into the gas area and over the filler neck


Step 6

Re-install the 3- phillips head screws


Step 7

Put the new chrome cap on and install the 2- T35 Torx head screws

Step 8

Sit back and check you alignment... loosen Torx heads and adjust till you like it...



Step 9

Nice write up ay! id love to get a chrome gas door for my car but it wont look too good on red, looks sick on ur silver neon 8)

Im assuming you have to cut the liner to allow the PT hinge to clear?
Ive heard you can reuse your stock hinge just swap the chrome lid with your oem one....

u cant remove the gas door.. no screws the are metal like welds

how would you get that gas door? I want one but do not know where to get it. and do you think it would look good on dark blue?
