How To: smoked sidemarkers

Post by steez » Wed Jun 13, 2012 3:55 pm

1. take out lower & upper torx screws in wheel well.

2. reach into bumper behind the sidemarker and pull this clip towards you, off of the marker. twist bulb to remove from lens

3. wash markers well, sand with 1000 grit enough to dull surface, and wash them again. mask off any areas you don't want tinted.

4. apply 2-3 light coats of VHT Niteshades ($13 autozone), waiting 5-10 minutes between coats. I did 3 light then a heavy one

5. let paint sit 10 minutes or so, apply 2-3 light coats of clearcoat followed by a medium one

6. allow to dry for 1 hour to handle, 24 to re-install on car. installation is reverse of removal, make sure the clip gets back on all the way
