5073049AA is the number for the PT's...different from the neon...
although its the same switch used in all pt's....
Illcheck this weekend about the compatiblilty since we have both switches in stock....
I'll compare the mounts,plugs..etc. If they are the same, ill plug in the PT switch to see if it does anything different.

Pics will be up later, but....
YES it will work!!!!!
I will be installing it into my car tonight when I get home from work. There is only one draw back though...
The PT cruiser uses a larger Hazard button than a neon wich means.....

1 - You either have to swap the hazzard buttons between switches(pain)

or

2 - Purchase either:
SC06XDVAC - Dark Slate $18.25list
SC06WL8AC - Taupe $17.50list
These are the upper shroud part numbers for the PT wich will accomadate the larger hazzard button.....
That its...oh...the PT mulitfunction switch runs $$74.60list price...
I'll get pics posted as soon as I do the install....

It does NOT work........
I tried it tonight, and the lights will not come on unless the low beams are on....I swaped switches, swaped circutry and still no results...
There must be something in the harness im missing...
Not to mention, the swap from the oversized hazzard switch was cake work, it took a whole 3-5minutes...so there is no need for the PT shroud.
I have everything all buttoned up....now I have to figure out why we cant run driving lights with our fogs...stay tooned...

theres a howto on some srt owners site about modifing the stock switch, he had to brake the tip off to remove the roll pin which holds the switch on, then he grinded off some plastic ring that had stops to prevent it from engaging without the headlamps, then he jbwelded and rebuilt the tip, so its gotta be a wiring thing, maybe the pin out is the same but the actual wired pins maybe in different locations

Now that's ghetto ass.

Sounds like a pain. Jumper wire works well enough for me and the 'mod' only takes 20 minutes.

notice the part where he states it doesnt work due to wiring.. BINGO! PT's must have a slightly different lighting wiring

Well thats partially the answer I needed.....
I have the PT switch installed with the PL hazzard button retrofitted into the switch so there was no need for an upper shroud replacement. That link showed the guy tearing the end of the switch off and modifing the internal parts. What I did was popped the cover off the switch, removed one screw and swaped the PT hazzard button with the neons....clean easy swap.
Now as for taping into the ignition for a power feed for the fogs, there has to be a reason the PT has a power source and the neon does not. Tomorrow at work im grabbing the PT service manual and checking out the wiring diagram for the mult switch to see what the difference is..

its now 8:39pm eastern time........
From what I can gather pin number 13 is different from the PT and PL...one uses a relay as a type of controller and the other does not... Im under the assumption when the PT switches to the driving lights, it kicks a relay for a power source for the fog's.....
Wich means that there is a need for a dedicated power source. From what I can see its only a 15amp 12volt supply....
Details are to follow...

************UPDATE*****AS OF 7-30-05---11:35AMEST*************
I figured it out, I had it working perfect...then my gray 20pin connector broke. I was testing and swapping pins, then I found out the hard way that these connectors are fragile and SUCK!!
DCX does not offer a repair package to replace this connector. So be carefull!! I contacted EvilCreations for a pigtail and he will have it to me in a few days....THANKS EVIL!!!!!
But long story short, I did have it working...I'll post final details when the end results are done....
************************************************************

*********UPDATE*********AS OF 7-31-05---11:19AM EST***********
Ok, here is the final thought.....
The PT cruiser switch will work except for 2 minor details...
1 - you have to remove 2 torx screws and pop the rear cover off the neon switch and the PT cruiser switch. Carefully swap the hazard button from the neon switch 2 the PT switch. Re-assemble everything and your almost done.

2 - Disconnect your battery (DUH)

3 - Take your gray 20 pin connector and locate pins number 13 and 19. Cut the pin number 13 wire(Violet w/white strip) but leave your self enough slack to run it over to the pin number 19 wire(light blue w/orange stripe) Tap the pin 13 wire into the pin 19 wire and secure and cover all connections. Basically your taping pin 13 into pin 19 wich feeds 12volts.

4 - Double check that everything is insulated and then re-assemble everything....thats it....

Advantage - Able to use your fog lights without turning on your headlights

Disadvantage - The headlight chime does not work anymore, and neither does your seatbelt warning.......oh darn...
***********Pics and pinouts will be posted on my site ASAP***********

I just did this mod and it worked, but I had a little bit different results:

1: The seatbelt warning and headlight chime both still work fine (which is a good thing)

2: The dimmer is kinda messed up now. The digital readouts (stereo and odometer) flicker when you switch between high and low beams. I did figure out a way around it, but my dimmer switch is now in the "off" position.

3: You cannot turn the dome light on from the multifunction switch anymore. This doesn't really affect me too much because I just use the reading lights built into the rearview mirror.

I know at least one other person that did this and achieved the same results. At first I thought it may have been a difference from 00-02 and 03-05, but this person had a '00 and I have an '03. Even with the quirks, it's still a great mod. I picked up the switch on dodgeparts.com for $50. Swapping the hazard buttons is a delicate task, but not too hard.

Thanks to BlackRoseRacing for all the info.

not a problem
And for those of you interested in the directions here you go:

Multi function switch re-wire
It actually pretty easy!
First thing you have to do is pick up a multifunction switch for a PT cruiser with foglights. Average price is around $70. Next thing is to remove your old switch from the car...this only applies to the 2G's not the 1G's.
Lay your PT switch next to your neon switch. You will see 2 torx screws and numerous push tabs on the the back side of the switch. You have to remove the rear cover and swap out the hazard buttons. The neon uses a smaller button VS the PT. If you want to purchase a PT upper shroud cover thats fine, but its not worth it...
After the button swap has been done, the next step is the wiring. Be carefull when you start here, the 20pin connector is NOT replaceable without buying a used pigtail or a new instrument panel harness!!!****as of now, the 20pin pigtail is available if you screw your up***
Now take wire or pin number 13 (VT/WT stripe) and cut it so you have enough length to run to jumper 19(LB with OR stripe) once the wire is cut, tap into the jumper 19 with the wire from jumper 13 and secure all connections. Wich means, insulate jumper 13 wire that you just cut, and insulate jumper 19 wire you just tapped in to.
Finally re-assemble everything and you now are able to run your fog lights without having to run your low beams....

FYI - always disconnect your battery when doing any electrical!
