to the guys running these size of tires, but only in 16's..how do you like it? I just have an sxt...so will i suffer power loss from the wider tire? just curious..im spinning my 205's in tight high speed corners..i dont want that :)

thanks,
David

The contact patch will be bigger so you can expect rolling resistance to go up, thus slightly harming performance. However, if you are having problems with the 205 width, the gain in contact patch may be greater than the loss.

^Agreed. I also run 205's and have the same issue. However, tire size only plays a partial role in traction. Tread design and compound can have a much greater effect on grip than another 5-10mm of rubber on the ground. A combination of a stickier tire with that extra contact patch is the key to ideal traction.

The tires I run are Yokohama V4S in 205/55/15, and with about 30psi in them they're pretty sticky. They're UHP all weather tires, but their ratings speak for themselves. AA traction, A temp, 500 treadwear. That's pretty much unheard of in my book. Couldnt pass them up. Next I plan to try the Falken Azenis 615's or maybe Yoko parada spec 2's, which are both MUCH stickier. You might have issues getting a 225 to clear your strut perches and rear torque arm though, so be careful. What wheels/offset do you run?

i have stockers right now..so i wont be gettin the wider tires yet..i just bought these tires..so i will use em up first...

I think i will try 205's again, but pay 150 bucks more next time and get a REAL performance set.

thanks for the replies..
