i have 215/45/17 with tokico struts now...no problems
i can get a really good deal on some bridgestone re 070's but they are 225/45/17
would these work with rubbing and stuff?

when looking at the tire calculator, these 225/45/17 are exactly the same height as the SRT's 205 /50/ 17s .. i think these will rub on tokicos unless you have the srt-4 struts. still, your offset might play a big role in this .... what is it?

they are a +40 offset... how would a 45 series tires be the same as a 50 series...am i missing something?

the 45 or 50 is the % of the width....i think.
so a 225/45 is approx the same as a 205/50...
maybe? lol i didnt do the exact calculation (ie 45% of 225, 50% of 205)

the 45 and 50 numbers are percentages ....
go the miata tire calculator website and check it out ...
with the 40 offset, which brings the tire closer to the spring perch.... i would think you would rub with the 225 tire........

i have 215's now...how much wider will a 225 be...
45 or 50 has nothing to do with it...
my tires look a little stretched as it is now.

The ratio does have a lot to do with it.
The 215 or 225 is the width in mm. The 45 or 50 is the percentage of the width. So a 215/40 tire is shorter than a 215/45.
So not only are you going wider with a 225, you are also going taller since 45% of 225mm is greater than 45% of 215mm.
Make sense?

does now...pretty fuckin stupid if you ask me but whatever...
will it work...i'll be getting coilovers during the winter and have my fenders rolled... also my car will be slammed and have camber.

tokico blues and sportlines are garbage...so are kyb's and goldlines and all the other shit.
sick and tired of budget suspension.
and im finding amazing deals on 17 inch tires on local subaru boards... 300 bucks for 4 17'' bridgestone re 070's off an sti...mint.

Rolling the fenders isnt going to help you in this case. Your wheels' offset is too high to ever need fender clearance. The 225 will probably rub the strut, but it really depends. Some tires are actually smaller or sometimes larger than their advertised width. That is the main variable in play here, and why no one can say with absolute certainty whether or not the B/S tires will clear on your car.
For example, Falken Azenis 205 tire is actually 225mm wide. They did this on purpose as a loophole for sanctioned racing classes limited to a 205mm tire. The autocrossers asked, and Falken produced. A lot of people buy tires not knowing these details and end up with something different than they planned.

hmmm...thanks for the info...
as they are stock sti tires maybe i'll ask my buddy if i can test fit on somehow... i dunno how tho...
but as of now...the bridgestone re92's that i have give me a decent amount of clearance so i'll maybe measure the width of my tires now and one of my buddies or something.
