So now i can't get a rim replacement!!!!!!!! I have a slightly bent rim which cost me $99 new from edgeracing. It costs freakin 99 to repair the rim.
The site seems to be gone and they were the only distributor for flick racing rims.
so now i either live with the damage or buy a whole new set

Might I recommend buying higher quality wheels next time, so as not to have this problem in the future?

It would have happened with any set of wheels. The potholes In my dorm area at school make the parking lot look like the beaches of Normandy.

lol. Don't be so sure, a forged wheel is 10 times stronger than a low quality cast wheel. Even a decent cast wheel can surely handle a good pothole or two.

Is there a rim repair facility near you? I know there's one near me somewhere, I just have to find it. One of my rims has a a bit of a flat spot on the inside.

18 lbs isn't all that light my friend. Then again, for $99 you can hardly make a collect call these days so more power to ya!

No wonder I haven't seen the Owner or his Kids at the autocross in a couple months. They used to be at every event, either with a BMW M3 or a MCoupe.

You can usually buy 2 wheels for the price of one forged wheel. Well Sometimes you can buy 4 wheels for the price of one if were talking about VOLK or a similar brand.
In my Opinion, If I can trash 2 or 4 wheels and still be under the cost of these better wheels than I'm doing ok. My wheels weigh about a pound more than the BBS they are copying, And I paid a quarter the price. So I could tear all four of them up on the track and still be ahead.

Expensive rims on cheap cars is kind of tacky, I'm not a fan of the ghetto fabulous look. Then again I wouldn't get any bigger than 16" so the prices aren't too bad for high quality wheels. Once you get into lightweight 17"+ the prices start to get ridiculous. My friend paid $2300 for used 19" volk sf-challenge wheels, and that was actually a good price.

Yeah....my 98 cost me $1600. I'm never going to put a set of wheels on the car that costs more than $500.

So many neons so little time.

Tirerack is probably the next best place to get tires. I ordered 4 tires yesterday at 5pm, and to my surprise they were delivered at 3pm today, less than 24 hours for ups ground shipping

Don't worry guys, OB just hates anyone without "good wheel taste". I mean, his must be far superior to ours.

I got no problem with the company, it's the whack wheels I'm not a fan of. Enkei's are aight though
jake_tim, I don't know why you feel the need to resort to flaming, but I recommend you keep your comments to yourself. Just because I like quality wheels and you prefer cheap ones doesn't mean you have to be rude.

If you have a set of cheap rims, do what I did.
Lay your rim on the ground, put a cloth over the dent, take a mine sledge hammer, and just hit it as hard as you can, go nuts.
Works like a charm, and saved me $100 bucks.

Oops, my bad, I thought the 01-02 rt/acr wheels were the "snowflakes". They look kind of like snowflakes, I guess.
OB wrote:Just because I like quality wheels and you prefer cheap ones doesn't mean you have to be rude.

Actually, OB, I prefer cost effective wheels; huge difference there, sir. You should make the distinction before you throw it in my face. Thanks.

... And watch the paint flake right off.
At least that's what happened to my Exel wheels.

And then I realized that the actual round-ness of my wheel was affected... Which you can't "straighten" with a BFH.

A guy at discount tire actually fixed one of my bent wheels with a hammer like that. Although you should use a rubber or soft metal hammer so you don't damage the finish.
I can see both sides of the "quality" wheel argument, since I've bent plenty of cheap wheels myself. Quality wheels use better metal which means they are less likely to bend, and enkei is known for using soft metals. However, if you hit a curb any wheel is going to bend or break. It's the big potholes and craters in the road where the higher strength metals really make the difference.
I guess it just depends on how cautious of a driver you are. Personally I avoid potholes and nasty bumps like the plague. It's not fun to be stuck on the side of the road or have to buy a new wheel.

Wheels aren’t forged to make them stronger. They're forged to make them lighter. If the wheel manufacture knows what they're doing then their forged wheels are just as likely to bend.

That is partly true. If you're comparing lightweight forged to lightweight cast wheels, then forged are stronger with all things being equal. Now a regular cast vs a lightweight forged wheel, the cast will be a bit stronger since it has more metal structure.
In the end, you will bend or break either one if you hit a curb or giant crater/pothole. Forged or not, metal can only take so much force before it gives.
