Hey guys. So I was browsing through a 'Car & Driver' mag when I saw some nice looking wheels in a discounttiredirect.com ad.

Image

They are 16" MB Seven X wheels. What do you guys think?

I don't know, I'm still on the fence about 17" on a Neon. And doesn't a 17" rim actually decrease performance?

if they are 17" by 7 inch wide you"ll get morre traction when cornering and lets face it neons are for the most part basicaly worthless in a strait line but more grip is better handling plus they do look better i wouldn't go any bigger than that though

i've had my eye on those rims, but the ones w/ black spokes

17" isn't too bad. It's only $10 more than the 16"...hmmm I just don't want to look too flashy. The reason I like them is because they remind me of the stock 7 spokes while looking a little nicer.

It can decrease acceleration if the tire is larger than a 40 series. The difficult thing with 17s are that its hard to get a nice light 17rim for a cheap price. If you sick with 215/40/17 sized tire its within 1% difference of a stock setup.

The advantage of 16s are that you can get a very light rim and a low profile tire so that your rotational mass can actually be less than a stock setup.

Well discount tire offers two tire sizes for the 16's:
195/50-16
and
205/50-16

the 17's have three:
205/40-17
205/45-17
215/40-17

I don't really know how that would effect it.

stick with 16s, much better tire choices .......

all the tires with 17" rims and stock suspension will look like rubber bands ....

the key is the drop, if you drop your car right, anything will look good!!!

Ugh, I'm too tired to go into the whole physics explanation about this.

If you are in it for the performance, go with 16's. 17's will slow you down.

i agree but i would use that if i was a track car but to use daily and race here and there. i would go with 17s

I went from stock steelie 14" up to 16's with 205/50's..
had a noticable difference in "get-up-and-go" just starting up from a stoplight

daily driver, stock suspension..don't race it

16's > 17's

Eh. I think I'm just going to go with 16's *ducks for cover*. They're a little cheaper, tires are cheaper, and I think they would make the car stand out while not making it jump into the fire.

oh and:

No worries about the physics lesson. I'm not planning on racing my car anytime soon.

They look good, I vote for 16's. I've got 15's with a 50 series, I just cant talk myself into riding on rubber bands.

I recently bought the MB Five X with Falken 912s from DTD. Lemme get some pics up soon. They're 16" and I love them.

Tire shops are gonna hate you for bringing in a set of 17" tires to mount, because it's the hardest size to do. They bitched up a storm at me when I brought my 17s in, and told me to never show my face there again. ROFL

Wow, Your tire shop sucks then.

Personally I find anything above 20" annoying, usually because they are heavy as hell and reverse mount. And any tire under a 40 series sidewall can be a PITA too. Oh and run flat tires can fuck off and die.

I have two mb five x's for winter wheels, they have held up good, I don't see any scratches that can't be buffed out.
