You are right, the wheel size has nothing to do with filling the wheel opening. It's about overall tire size.

Not in my opinion.

You don't want rubberband with your 17's. They will look too big.

A lot of people run those rims around here, since they are always a special at DTD.

Well if I had the money to ditch my 14 steelies, I'd def get some 15 inch wheels so I wouldn't get any slower. I'd love some rota slips right about now :)

Larger wheels won't make you slower. Only heavy larger wheels.

But lightweight wheels come at a premium, and depending on structure, maybe less likely to take a hit.

I have 205/50-16's and it didn't make a big difference from the 185/65-14's with steelies. The wheels are not light by any means.

195/60-14's will boost your pick up a little tho.
But, the 16's ride way nicer than the 14's. It was a plus I did not expect.

I have also hit some nasty potholes with the 16's, and have not had any problems. I like the tire size in 16 better than 15 also. The 205/50 is a perfect fit with a small drop.

I guess it's the lightest wheel ever made. Full carbon fiber.

I think most 16's and 15's are likely to weight about 15-20lbs each. But some light wheel (if not good brand name) may have the hazard to be bent. It all depends on both the price and the personal taste. I don't think I'll get some wheels that the price is more than 1/2 of the KBB car price of the car though.
