Can I fit a 215/40/17 tire on an 8.25" wide wheel?

I'm looking at upgrading my wheels/tires and I found some that I like, but they are 8.25" wide with a 35+ offset and the widest recommended wheel for a 215/40/17 is 8". Would I have clearance issues and how much would I be stretching out the tires? Would there be a better tire choice that would be around the same height and not rub on the struts?

I've run that tire size with no issue before, but then again it was a 7" tire. I would say you're definitely going to at least have to run a spacer

The tires in those pics with the OB SRT has 215/40's?

i just put a set of 215s on my 8in rims and they are slightly stretched. I would not do it. I would recommend a 225 (slight stretch) and a 235 is actually the correct size for a 8.5 rim. As far as rubbing ??? some have gone that wide but I would be slightly nervous.

tires will fit nice. barely any stretch. 8" wide at +35 I know you wouldn't rub with coilovers

not sure about stockers.

Well you can keep discussing this topic, but I found a different set of wheels...BBS RK2 2-piece 17x7.5's, so they will fit nicely with 215/40/17's
