Rota / Can't Find Size

Post by NASTEON » Tue Mar 18, 2014 4:59 pm

Hey everyone I am looking for some Rota Slipstreams 16 x 7 and I can't find them ANYWHERE :banghead:. I have checked stores and websites to no luck, some websites have them up but when I contact them and ask for availability they say that they have none. I am dead set on these wheels in this size because I think they look good in a 16 " + size. They are not for drag so 16" is a must, I also do not want to go 15" because I need at least a 225 wide tire to supports mods. If you know where somone might have them I would appriciate it, I would prefer brand new ones but if I have to I will post a WTB in the for sale section but that is a last ditch effort.

Thanks

Chris

18racing.com should have them.

But 15x7 with a 225/50/15 look great on 2gns.

Thanks I appriciate it ! I didn't know you could run a 225 tire on a 15 X 7 Hmmm that might work, that does look good btw. Figured a 225 would bulge over with that size

I just saw a post in srt forums about it 15 X 7 one with 225's :tardbang:

I had 225s on stock 7 spokes. That was a lot of bulge.

A lot of bulge I bet so..Did some more looking around I would prefer the 16" rims because I do not want to go to coilovers. I like the Ebiach / tockico blue setup and with 15" rims it wouldn't look so great.

16" is really sparse for finding wide high performance tires. You're really limited by the spring perch of the strut which puts you at about 24.5" max diameter tire, so 225/45/16 yields exactly 2 options from tirerack, and realistically i would not DD the r1r because of cost/wear.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearc ... iameter=16

15's look good, have MORE real tire options, weigh less and your total diameter is 2.0 n/a torque friendly. A taller 15" tire is another option, though usually that means narrower as well. I'll be running 15's this year in G-stock on my SRT.

17's are where its at for lots of affordable real tire options, but again you're height limited by the spring perch and generally come in unfriendly package weights and diameters. just say no to rim bending 205/40/17

my sxt with dave's 245/40/17's RS3 on 17x8 . lots more tire but not as fast my preferred 225/45/15 on 15x7.5 (or wider). RS3's on the rear wheels is a bit "unsettling" in on a loose setup until up to temp ;-)

note; thats not me pictured;-)

Thanks for the info I appriciate it, gives me something to chew on lol. I wanted the 16" for looks and a wider tire for optimal performance. I am being stubborn on the Rota Slipstreams but nobody has them in a 16" for our lug. I was considering 15" as a fall back but sacrificing width. I need a good performing street tire with a good bite, I will be doing some side drag strip racing as well. I do not want to run a 215 width tire if I can avoid it, with the full srt swap, big turbo and water/meth injection kit I will be putting down some serious ponies. So that being said I dont really need a track tire at least for now Lol. How is the clearance as far as the rear tension bar with 7.5 wide wheels ? I am very picky about rims so it makes it hard to shop for some Lol.

i dont have any issues with clearance 15x7 et 35 and I have never ran 15x7.5 et20 on the back , (they are still new in the box) but on the calculator they do have 9mm more inner clearance, so still no issues there.

FTR i didnt have any issues with the 17x8 et35 on the back either and those have even less inner clearance.

2gn neons don't have a tension rod issue as bad as 1gns do.

225/45/15 or 225/50/15 will look great on your car.

For what it's worth, the silver srt I posted was on vogtland springs.

With a full srt swap you're going to have traction issues with any regular street tire. My buddy even had issues with 225 drag radials on the street when he had a big turbo making 400hp and 440tq.
