Got rejected by emissions

Post by 01neonrtblk » Tue Sep 03, 2013 11:52 am

Long time lurker, not that much of a poster, ha. But I had a quick question about emissions. I recently went for emissions and my car was rejected because of "Catalytic converter EFF- Not supported" and "EGR flow- Not supported." Basic information on the car, its a 2001 Neon r/t. 2005 srt4 swap. stage 2 mopar ecu. which threw p0888 I believe. Got the code scrubber, and it worked 2 years ago. Since last emissions, I had changed nothing on the car, so I am slightly confused. I have catalytic converter on the car too. So any suggestions?

Interesting. I'm sure someone else will reply with more info, but if I am reading this correctly .... You have an SRT-4 staged PCM, in place of the stock factory PCM, right ??

This might explain the screwed-up results from the test center.
The system is "looking for" and expecting to "see" results from a 2001 R/T PCM, but is 'reading' a staged PCM.

It may be possible, that your converter is going bad, but I think it is more likely a code reading error, due to the above.

What puzzles me, is the code they gave you for EGR.
2nd gen Neons, don't have EGR, so they should't be getting a code for that ?? :?

P0888 is an ATX fault code, maybe it was something else?

Do you have the actual code that it displays on the odometer?

I have no codes showing, I had the p0888 before, but have the code scrubber in there now. I passed emissions two years ago, but recently the state of Illinois changed some rules. From what I am gathering, I can pass emissions with stock pcm and stock injectors, my question is, would a stock srt4 pcm work with my vin number? I had the stage 2 pcm programmed with my r/t vin number so my existing keys worked.

A bone stock SRT PCM flashed to your VIN/SKIM may work better.

IDK how the tester would see it, as a 2001, or a 2005. In any event, since you went to a newer model year, and an engine used in the PL platform, it is not an illegal swap. But it technically should now have to pass 2005 requirements.

i agree with that last part, it should now comply with 2005 emissions standards. doesnt matter what vin was put in.
