You can't just swap the 5-speed stuff on "simply."

It will physically bolt on, however that's a hydraulic clutch setup and your 2000 is "designed" for a cable setup. You'd be modifying the firewall to fit it. That, and I don't believe the PT pedals bolt into the Neon. You need non-SRT 2001+ Neon pedals.

As for wiring, what issues does it have? You'll need the engine harness and bay harness, or a 5-speed equivalent from a Neon. You'll also likely need the 03+ neon body harness. At that point all your ignition stuff needs to match: SKIM, ECU, keys, cylinder, etc..

With enough downtime and money, it would probably work. After the hassle you're better off getting an 03+ shell and swapping the PT stuff to that. There are still parts you've got to get to make it work for either one, but the 2000 will be a pain. Even if the PT is free, it still would not be worth the cost of making it work.

Find a 1gn 5-speed donor.

I gotta clutch pedal setup and clutch cables from 2000 neon for sale, 100 shipped takes both. Also have 2000 mtx pcm and gauge cluster. Another hundred for those. Shifter (might be short throw) and cables here too. Get it all for 300 shipped. Then you'd just need trans (which I have lots of), and mount (got one).

Actually I have everything you'll need. Pedals, clutch and shifter cables, shifter, pcm, gauge cluster with tach, mounts, and axle. Plus rebuilt transmission. If you want everything, I'd do 800 shipped and it'll include rebuilt trans with cable bellhousing and either 3.55 or 3.94 ratio, your choice.

Aaaaaaand that's a deal I'd be all over.

There are select folks who flash PCMs. If it's all non-skim, you're pretty much set with this.
