Pointless change?

Doubtful. People were complaining for years that it wasn't upgraded.

The unfortunate part was losing 2 years of posts, and maybe it could have happened sooner, but meh, shit happens.

I liked the older format of the emoticons for sure, but am getting used to the format for everything else.

This is true - With all the mods I made to the previous version, it was incredibly hard to move to the latest version and no lose some data. When I lost several years worth, I figure now was as good of time as any to just scrap it and move on.

Losing two years was bad but hey... it was mainly just Happy Birthday posts. lol

Updating the main page......lol
I don't remember the last time that has ever changed. Even the "media" link still has the same photos for god knows how many years(except the blue SXT) and the "links" option has nothing...
What about adding the "2GN" of the month photos to the media link? This way users that have qualified or were selected as "2GN" of the month's photos would be there? Just a thought......
Yeah it's time for a change as 2GN.org activity has dropped, does 1GN.org still have any activity?
What about bringing back 2GN of the month and the calendar?

With the current people logging in, I think Jeremy's car would probably be the only 2gn for every month.

1GN still have activity... not a ton but it's there. There were A LOT of spam bots on it which I spent a good day cleaning up. Now that those are gone, it's making life easier for anyone looking for info. I'd hate to close it down since it has some good info.

The redesign of the main page does need to be updated. That'll be my next project haha.

Everyone has to get on FB to drum up support for the "Post on the Forum Day"!

If you didn't have any standards and just included everyone that still comes here, we'd be good.

-mine
-yours
-Jeremy's
-both of Jason's
-Jerry's silver car (which I think is Scott's old motorsport edition)
-superdan
-CharmfulPeace
-Ryan Bearshare's
-Hagan's
-Devaughn's (Amit's old car)
-Frank's
-rage Kevin's SRT
-MyNeonSaysHi's SRT

There's more than 12 cars already.

Hey, I wouldn't argue with that.

We could start taking pictures of random Neons on the road and submitting them. My neighbor has a modded '01 that sits in my cul de sac, because it's broken. It's a POS, but I'd submit it. I could print out some "Neon of the Month" stickers and just randomly stick them on the windows of Neons I spot in parking lots.

 You have that car? I always loved that thing. There was a kindred spirit-ness between that car and my Daytona because we went the same 2.4 route: build a Stratus engine ground-up instead of starting with an SRT longblock. Back when we did our swaps, you couldn't touch an SRT-4 engine for under $2000. A low-mileage Stratus engine might have set you back a tenth of that. OEM SRT piston/rod assemblies were $75 a piece, the SRT oil pump & pan were a bolt-on for extra insurance, the whole valvetrain needed nothing, and it was taster's choice for manifolds and accessories. Boy have times changed.

It was either I drive across the state and get it, or it was going to the scrap yard. Getting it loaded onto my brother's dirt bike trailer without any wheels or suspension on the body was an adventure, but we got 'er done!

Chris didn't use the SRT/PT oiling system, he stuck with the Stratus set up. Unfortunately, due to a HG leak, the engine rusted up in the inside. But the pistons and rods were still useable. They are currently in an NGC Sebring block, machined into SRT specs (Piston squirters/turbo oil return, etc.)

It's now in formerly Cbussilver01es' 99 R/T...

I am so glad that car didn't go to waste!

I wish I didn't use the SRT oiling system. With the Stratus pump, the fact that I removed the balance shafts would have made up for adding the turbo. Running 5W-20, my cold idle is almost 80psi. I'm waiting for the day when I need to scoot out into traffic before the car is warm and my oil pressure gauge's needle explodes out of the gauge and ends up stuck in my forehead. Remember, the gerotor set in the SRT-4/PTGT oil pump was borrowed from the same generation 4.7L. It's literally a V8 pump! You really need the oil squirters so all that volume has somewhere to go. With all that said, I have 57k miles on that setup and all continues to be well. Just a though, in case there's a "next time".

I'm curious about this. I thought that the oil squirters were actually small nozzles that were tapped into the main oil passage across the rear-facing side of the block. Are they simply holes?

They are nozzles that bolt onto machined faces on the block.

My brother bought Sean's '99 R/T, and used the salvageable parts from Chris's 2.4 to build the 2.4 from his Sebring. He has been a machinist for most of his career, so knowing what to do to make it happen wasn't rocket science to him.

The nice thing about NGC 2.4 blocks, is everything is cast to make them into SRT blocks, you just need to do the machining part. And buy the bolt on's.
