Happy Post on 2GN Day!!!

Post by Diablo0 » Sat Feb 03, 2018 8:39 am

Let’s do this! Maybe ask a few questions...

Do you still have your Neon?
How long have you had your Neon?
How many 2GN Carlisle meets have you been to?
Are you going this year?
If not, WHY NOT?!?
Do you still mod your Neon or has it turned into just a method of transportation... or just fix when it breaks?
What’s your favorite memory of your Neon?

Can’t wait to see some replies!

Still have mine 14 years later. It's my backup car now but has seen minor changes - spoiler, srt rear bumper (it got backed into so we upgraded) and now has a sunroof. Carlisle is just too far away being a west coast person.

Neon meets we’re always fun. I can’t remember how many I’ve been to and all the people I’ve met.

Still have mine but it mostly just sits. Planning on making it the daily come spring (needs a tune up and a few odds and ends)

I’ve had my neon around 10 years

Sadly I’ve only been to I think 3 Carlisle meets, could only be 2 though

Doubt that I would be able to make it to the meet this year but things could change!

My favorite memory of my neon would be the first start up after the SRT swap

Let’s do this! Maybe ask a few questions...

Do you still have your Neon? Yes but thinking of selling it...
How long have you had your Neon? 10 years
How many 2GN Carlisle meets have you been to? 9
Are you going this year? Yes
If not, WHY NOT?!?
Do you still mod your Neon or has it turned into just a method of transportation... or just fix when it breaks? It just sits and only gets driven to Carlisle
What’s your favorite memory of your Neon? The day I bought it... Friday June 13, 2008 I was so excited to get it

Do you still have your Neon? Yes.
How long have you had your Neon? 12 1/2 years.
How many 2GN Carlisle meets have you been to? ALL 12!
Are you going this year? Yes.
Do you still mod your Neon or has it turned into just a method of transportation... or just fix when it breaks? A little bit of all 3 mentioned here. Currently entertaining installing an N2MB WOT box... with over 200k on the original driveline. :)

What’s your favorite memory of your Neon? Oh man, so many to choose from, but it's probably this:

In August 2011, my wife (fiancee at the time) and I had planned on going camping in Vermont at a favorite spot. As the trip got closer, Hurricane Irene was developing in the Atlantic, with the northeast US in its sights. We needed a vacation from wedding planning, it was our only chance to go, we're both road trip junkies, we love camping, and we've both got just enough screws loose to have a lot of fun together. We decided to proceed with the trip.

August 25th, we arrived at Half Moon State Park. We set up and hung out for the next couple of days, chatting with people about the upcoming storm. By mid-afternoon on the 27th, of the 60+ campsites, only 4 of them were occupied. Campground employees were checking on the people that decided to stay, advising that there was serious wind and rain coming. They offered us one of the cottages, since they were all now empty. Our only choices for shelter were our tent and the Neon, so we took the cottage. Before 7am the following morning, the storm was in full force. The sound of the rain against the tin roof was deafening, and water had begun to make its way into the cabin. Ok, it’s pouring, it’s windy, we’re surrounded by trees that are probably 50-80 feet tall, her phone is dead, there’s no electricity, and we’re in sleeping bags on a wet floor. We packed the Neon and got out of there.

Rather than driving straight through the entire storm to go back home, we headed north on Route 7 to Burlington. It was one of the most epic drives I’ve ever made. “Holy sh*t” was about the only thing my wife and I said to each other. That Neon was an absolute trooper. Navigating slick, unpaved roads, going through puddles that looked to be about doorsill-deep, hidden potholes that felt like my struts would end up shooting through my hood, maneuvering around downed trees and power lines, all with near-zero visibility. It was like Indiana effing Jones. That car never skipped a beat, A/C on, phone charging, not one drop of water inside. About 2.5 hours later, we finally made it to Burlington and found a hotel. The storm was starting to lose intensity. In the hotel lobby, we overheard a gentleman on his phone saying that he “couldn’t get there because Route 7 was closed”. My wife and I looked at each other, wondering what would have happened if we had made that trip even 15 minutes later than we did. The local news channel was an endless slideshow of historic bridges wiped out, roads washed away, rivers overflowing, widespread power outages… and the little, used Neon that I had bought years ago just survived it.

The following morning, we cruised homeward down a sunny I-89, my Neon covered with pine needles, leaves, and mud, like it was just another day.

That’s a very awesome story. Ones like that are the ones you’ll talk about until you’re old. Me and Jennifer have ones like that, maybe not as bad though. Lol. At the time it was bad though.

Do you still have your Neon?
No, but I bought another one. And then another one. And then another one. And then another one.

How long have you had your Neon?
Almost two years for the current one. 16 years from my first Neon purchase, next month.

How many 2GN Carlisle meets have you been to?
None.

Are you going this year?
I'd like to, but probably not this year. Seriously considering it for the future, though.

If not, WHY NOT?!?
2,715 miles. And money.

Do you still mod your Neon or has it turned into just a method of transportation... or just fix when it breaks?
I mod the shit out of it, every chance I get.

What’s your favorite memory of your Neon?
The fist time I drove it after putting the new engine together and installing it all myself. Very gratifying.

My favorite memory in any Neon would be the HPDE track day I did in my old SRT ACR. Lots of "fast" cars that had trouble keeping up with it.

Do you still have your Neon?
Absolutely not!!! I have a Challenger now 8)

How long did you have your Neon's?
The SXT I had for 13 years, and sold it with about 160k. Sold it and got a Dart , that mistake only lasted 10 months!
The SRT I had for 8 years, and sold it because it mostly sat in the garage. It was a big mistake selling this car :(

How many 2GN Carlisle meets have you been to?
I've been coming since 2013, and will try my hardest to keep the streak going!

Are you going this year?
Absolutely!!!. I love my 2GN/Neon family!

What’s your favorite memory of your Neon?
Too many to list, but one of the best memories is having some hanky panky :-D

Do you still have your Neon? Yes.
How long have you had your Neon? 12 years.
How many 2GN Carlisle meets have you been to? Five?
Are you going this year? It's in my plans.
If not, WHY NOT?!? It depends on finances- OT at work has been cut (by my choice).
Do you still mod your Neon or has it turned into just a method of transportation... or just fix when it breaks? Modding ended last year so just regular maintenance.
What’s your favorite memory of your Neon? FAST driving on the twisties of Wisconsin 19 to and from chipdog's.

Do you still have your Neon?
Sadly no, She was chopped up into pieces and donated to scrap. Christine may not be back, but a few of her parts were donated to other builds......so she may rise back
How long have you had your Neon?
I "had" Christine for 14 years
How many 2GN Carlisle meets have you been to?
All but the "Unofficial Original"
Are you going this year?
I'm hoping so, DEFINITELY without the kids this year! They costed way to much $$ and aggravation last year...lol
If not, WHY NOT?!?
Do you still mod your Neon or has it turned into just a method of transportation... or just fix when it breaks?
"well" I can't mod it anymore as she's gone... :(
What’s your favorite memory of your Neon?

Do you still have your Neon?

Yes I still have "A" Neon. I have owned 10.

How long have you had your Neon?

Current one, since May of 2017 I believe.

How many 2GN Carlisle meets have you been to?

0

Are you going this year?
If not, WHY NOT?!?

Nope. 1.Too far away. 2. A giant lot full of Neons and Mopars in PA is cool, but not worth the time and $$$ involved to get there. 3.It seems to be hotter then hell when that event is going on. 4.Not much of a social person.
If it was closer and during a better time of the year I would for sure go.

Do you still mod your Neon or has it turned into just a method of transportation... or just fix when it breaks?

Mod. Not a daily driver. But I will drive it to work from time to time when the weather is nice. I fix it when it is not running right.

What’s your favorite memory of your Neon?

Of the current Neon? Getting the tune squared away and hitting 25lbs spinning at 80mph on the interstate.
