6/29/2019 Dayton Spring meet

Post by 03_SXT » Wed Apr 03, 2019 12:11 pm

Hello ladies and gentlemen!

It's that time again, although we're a little late this year, I still think we should setup something soon.

How does the 7th, 14th (I know, I know), or 21st sound?

Let me know so I can advertise on FB and get a good turn out again!

Location of meet: We will meet here at the regal cinemas parking lot. They have a parking lot that is further away from the theater that I have yet to see occupied even on the busiest nights. The address is 2651 Fairfield Commons, Beavercreek, OH 45431.

Directions:
From EAST: If you're coming from the columbus area, the quickest route will be to take I70 West until you reach I675. Take that south to exit 17 at North Fairfield Rd. You will want to turn left onto north fairfield road. From here you will go through 4 lights, and at the 5th (Jared's Jewelers on the corner) turn right toward the mall. Make an immediate left onto Fairfield Commons Drive, then pass Red Robin and Fox and Hound pub and grill on the left, taking the first left after the Fox and Hound. From there you will be in the lot

From WEST: Directions are the same except you'll be taking I70 East, durhur :D

From NORTH: I'd imagine I75 will be the quickest way down from Toledo. Once to Dayton, take I70 East for a few miles, then get on I675 South. From here directions are the same.

From SOUTH: I75 North will be your best coice. Once to Dayton get on I675 North. The only difference here will be to take exit 17 and turn RIGHT onto North Fairfield Dr. From here you'll go through 3 lights, and the 4th (Jared's on the corner) Will be your turn into the mall

For some reason the marker on google maps is not correct for the theater, so follow my directions (if you don't have GPS), and the worst case scenario would be that you would just drive on the ring around the mall and you'd eventually find the theater. When closer to the meet I'll PM people my number if they would like the extra security.

FOOD!: We will hop over (could even walk) to Red Robin (although hopping over to Ihop would be funnier). You'll pass by it driving to the meet location, so I'll save myself posting the link. I figure we'll eat whenever the group gets hungry, or if you like we can set a specific time.

21st is Easter Sunday, FWIW.

Unfortunately none of those days work for me.

Wife has been in/out the hospital for the last month and a half due to complications from surgery.

The bill just for use of the hospital on the initial surgery was over $84,000. Total is probably going to be north of $100,000. Thankfully I have somewhat decent health insurance, but it's still going to be a chunk in co pays. Thankfully I opted for the best insurance plan they offer. There are three lesser plans. Cheaper out of paycheck, but in the event of situations like this, you would be truly hosed.

So that has put a damper on any extra spending, and it has been consuming my time off/spare time at a pretty good clip. :/

The hospital being an hour and 40 minutes drive sucks ass too.

Ohhh man Bill, I am so sorry to hear this.

Please give your wife my condolences, as well as you and your family.

You and your family are most definitely in my prayers and thoughts.

On a side note, why am I thinking the 14th is Easter? Or am I getting Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday mixed up?

You were obviously thinking with your palms....

But they are still cheaper than a lady. :D

Thanks for the thoughts and Prayers!

Wife is doing much better now, hopefully it continues.

She had to have a tumor removed from her spinal cord. They didn't get the dura sealed well enough, so she had cerebral/spinal fluid leaking into the suture wound. They tried a lumbar drain to divert the fluid hoping it would heal. It didn't work, and the wound began tunneling. So they had to go back and cut her open again, and seal the dura. So far things are going well, but they should have went back in the first time instead of doing the lumbar drain.

Sorry to hear about your wife, Bill. Glad to hear she is doing better. I was travelling out of the country and just came back last night. Looks like we would have to push this almost to May for a meet if that works.

It's most likely going to be middle of May.

I will be out of town for the first two weeks of May.

I kind of liked BJ's as a meeting place for food.

The Wife and I ate at a Red Robin in North Olmsted OH, and neither of us were happy with the food quality, and it was fairly pricey for what it was.

I'm not sure I'll make this meet, but I thought I would put that out there. I know David wasn't happy about it as the food wasn't appropriate for his diet, but IDK if Red Robin would really be more friendly.

I am pretty flexible so I don't mind going to BJ's. They burnt down the kitchen at this Red Robin and then for a while they tended to burn the food. Not sure how that is correlated but I went to a different location for that reason. Anyway, I can make reservations at BJ's as well once I have an estimate of how many people are going to be there.

Maybe the 22nd or the 29th? Sorry for possibly turning a spring meet into a summer one.

The 29th if the weather cooperates. It would be nice to get the Neon out; aside from driving to the dealership a few weeks ago for annual maintenance, it has pretty much been garaged since October.

No Amit, the dealership didn't fix the rear wheel sticking out- I was told that it is in alignment.

Hopefully all are well after last night's storms went through the Midwest. The Dayton area got rocked pretty hard...

I was wondering about that. I left Dublin last night on my way back to Indianapolis and the sirens were sounding in Plain City as I drove through. I ended up waiting out the tornadoes at the US 24/I-70 Pilot (the London exit). Is everyone okay?

Sounds like the 29th it is.

Fortunately, we are okay. There was only minor damage to the house. But we did hunker down in the basement as the storm came really close. A couple of apartment complexes nearby had some major damage and got ripped up by one of the tornadoes. Some of the stores got damaged significantly as well. It is going to be a while until all of that is rebuilt. I think the movie theater is still okay. I have to check on the Red Robin and the other restaurants in the mall. I have not made it there yet. A lot of roads are closed so it is a pain to get anywhere. To get back home from the grocery store which is usually about 10 minutes took me 40 minutes today.
