neons.org and 2gn.org are teaming up to bring one large event to celebrate 25 years of neons at the 2020 Chrysler nationals in Carlisle, PA.
This event is for anyone from any car club or group, just be a neon enthusiast! You dont even have to drive a neon, just have a love for them!!
We be doing the typical Wednesday-Sunday n2k format which generally includes junkyarding, sight seeing, and other activities on the first few days and then wrapping it up with Friday and Saturday being spent on the show field. and we will finish off at three mile island for our personal neon car show Saturday night. For those unaware of the Chrysler Nationals, its roughly 3,000 Mopars, swap meets, and Mopar related activities.

I wonder how club participation is going to work (ie. what club name are we all registering under). I already registered with 2GN.org, but I'd imagine I've got several months to change it.

Ok so apologize for the delay, i have been in talks with multiple hotels in the area,,, as for our last hotel the capital inn is no longer, they have sold to motel 8, and communication with their front desk is horrendous..

Stay tuned as I will keep everyone update as I get updates..

Also, for me personally, I never had a problem with Motel 6. If we end up back there, I'm good with that.

Just to let everyone know I WAS able to get us back to the hotel we were at last year. Capital Inn, (Now is a MOTEL Took a bit of work to get everything set up.. but we should be good to go...

we will be on the 3rd floor, these are the newly renovated rooms.
pool, assigned neon/2gn parking lot etc.

I have setup...

10 single beds at $65 a night
15 double beds at $75 a night

when calling you will need to speak with Rufus or Ihab

I tried Harrisburg west they would have taken us but we would have been forced into the grass to hang out. Absolutely no sitting in the parking lot ,SAME went for motel 6.

Capital Inn will give us the same setup as last year.. dedicated parking lot to ourselves

At this point in time, I don't know that I would order a Die Cast that is "pick up" only.

As much as I want to be wrong, I am not going to hold my breath that things are going to be even close to where they were two months ago.

Even if they are open, I'm betting attendance numbers will be down greatly. There are a lot of older folks that attend, that may not be so willing to risk their health. And they probably make up at least half, or maybe more(?) of the attendees.

And they are probably the ones that spend a little more liberally overall. Most of the older age group car clubs seem stay at hotels closer to the fairgrounds also. Probably because they can better afford it, and don't want to make the drive we do. Nothing wrong with that, it is what it is.



There is certainly nothing wrong with optimism, but...

I doubt even "free" will sway people that have made up their minds to avoid large gatherings.

I've decided to brave it. I'm wondering when Ed and crew will make the invitational decisions known? Five years ago, the results were announce in mid-March.

I think this will be a day-of decision for me, literally. Honestly, the showfield doesn't worry me at all. I expect a lot of people to skip this year entirely. Theoretically, that should make social distancing easier. It's the hotel that skeeves me out. It's laughable to think that budget hotels out there are doing anything differently in the midst of this pandemic.

So I think I'm going to pick a day, either Friday or Saturday, drive there, enjoy myself for the day, and drive home. Driving 800+ miles in the same day only to end up where I started doesn't faze me at all. I didn't build the Daytona to look at.

Lots could change by then, but that's where I am right now. This would be my 15th consecutive year, and the 12th overall for the Daytona.

A sanitized hotel? Probably no worse than they ever have been. Corona would just have to do battle with everything else that's already been there!

I always pack a can of Lysol and spray everything down in the motel bathroom. And never go barefoot in a motel room- always wear flip flops.

1. Carlisle Events has not given me a "yay" or "nay" about my car being in the Invitational, even though the application promised that applicants would be informed no later than 6 weeks prior to the event. How could I make plans?
2. They are not answering their office phone.
3. Even if the western portion of PA has a green status by event time, a gathering of this size will still be prohibited.
4. Gas stations and restaurants during my drive from Indiana to Pennsylvania might not be open and I don't like surprises.
5. I don't know if there might be social unrest during my drive there and back.
6. Our club organizers have stated that we will be on our own if we attend.

I'll try to make it next year.

What does this mean exactly? I haven't seen what you are referring to. Either that or I misunderstood entirely.
